On Friday, XFL co-owner Dany Garcia posted an Instagram story featuring a XFL Zoom meeting containing, as far as we can tell from the quality of the image, (from top left to right) XFL President Jeffrey Pollack, Dany Garcia, Basil DeVito, Dana Covo, Toby Lee, Thomas Van Wazer, Cindy Wagner, Chirag Mithani, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. (Credit to Twitter:Mike Mitchell for recognizing some of the individuals.)
Dany pointed out that Johnson was joining the call from the set of the movie Red Notice.
According to Dany’s MacBook Air, the meeting took place on Thursday afternoon.
Clearly, the purpose of this post is to inform fans, players, coaches, and others, that they are currently working out a plan for the XFL. As well, despite “The Rock’s” busy schedule, he is still involved in the decision making process.
Also, we can see that the XFL leadership team has grown to at least nine people at this point.
Dany also took to Instagram to promote her husband’s gym, RIENZI Strength & Conditioning, and showcase a product wall, including XFL branded products.
These type of teases are probably all we can expect from the XFL leadership for the near future, although we are told that more substantial news is in the offing. When the league office is asked for a timeline, we are simply told, “soon.”
I truly appreciate these updates. As a Canadian in Canada, I saw first hand how the CFL got in its own way to have a shortened season.
I wish this league all the best.
