UFL Week 3 – Players of the Week – “Fan’s Choice” by UFLBoard.com

Welcome to our UFL Week 3 – Players of the Week – “Fan’s Choice” results. Voting began immediately at the completion of the final game on Sunday. We gathered over 1300 votes before the closing of polls at 5:00PM Eastern on Tuesday April 16, 2024. We thank all who voted!

Fans were asked to nominate any player they deemed worthy of the honor, in three categories: Offensive, Defensive, and Special Teams. Winners below are based on the number of votes received for each player.

UFL Offensive Player of the Week:
#9 Adrian Martinez, Quarterback, Birmingham Stallions

The fans said:

  • Martinez’s 11-yard rushing touchdown was the straw that broke the camels back in the Birmingham win. (KT)
  • A multi-level threat. Martinez completed 18 of 28 passes for 334 yards and two touchdowns and added 44 yards on the ground with another touchdown. (Anonymous)
  • His performance ensured the Stallions stayed with a perfect record. (Ronald E.)

Honorable Mentions

E.J. Perry, Quarterback, Michigan Panthers

  • Completed 16 of 19 passes for 208 yards and a touchdown, plus ran for 60 yards in a Michigan win over Houston. (Anonymous)
  • Had a very clean game, 84% Completion percentage, over 200 passing yards with 60+ rushing yards on the ground, totaling 3 touchdowns by himself. All contributing to a huge win to keep 2nd place in the USFL. (Thorntonslegacy)

Hakeem Butler, Wide Receiver, St. Louis Battlehawks

  • Top St. Louis receiver with 6 catches for 87 yards and a touchdown. (KawKaw)

UFL Defensive Player of the Week:
#96 Carlos Davis, Nose Tackle, Birmingham Stallions

The Birmingham Stallions were a defensive machine in their win over the Showboats, and Carlos Davis stood out among the greatness. Davis was on fire, racking up 6 tackles (3 solo), 3 sacks, and 2 tackles for a loss.

The fans said:

  • Disrupted Case Cookus from the very first down, holding the Showboats to almost zero yards on the ground. (SJ)
  • 6 tackles, 3 sacks, and 2 tackles for a loss. Defensive machine. (Anonymous)
  • Put Case Cookus on the ground enough times to disrupt his rhythm. The sacks helped the Stallions win the game. (Anonymous)

Honorable Mentions

Jonathan Garvin, Linebacker, Birmingham Stallions

  • Garvin got two sacks and forced a fumble against the hapless Showboats. (Anonymous)

Kai Nacua, Safety, Michigan Panthers

  • Defensive machine. Eight tackles, six solo tackles, one interception, and two pass breakups for the Panthers. (Anonymous)
  • This dude is a Baller. Loved to see him get the interception. He is always all over the field and making great tackles. (Justin L.)

UFL Special Teams Player of the Week:
#16 Matthew McCrane, Kicker, D.C. Defenders

McCrane was 3-for-3 on field goals against the Renegades, one from 54 yards, another from 58 yards, and, most importantly, the game winning kick from 49 yards with 4 seconds on the clock.

The fans said:

  • McCrane never missed, especially on his last field goal which won the game. (Anonymous)
  • McCrane connected on a game winning, 49-yard field goal as time expired to give the Defenders the win they came for. (LemonTea)
  • McCrane gave the Defenders the points they needed to stay in the game and then take the win. Solid kicker. (Anonymous)

Honorable Mention

Andre Szmyt, Kicker, St. Louis Battlehawks

  • Szmyt was money kicking three field goals from 44, 54 and 46 yards. (Anonymous)
  • This week Szmyt  proved himself as a solid kicker who doesn’t miss a field goal. (J. Stark)
