XFL Week 9 – Players of the Week – “Fan’s Choice” by XFLBoard.com

Welcome to our XFL Week 9 – Players of the Week – “Fan’s Choice” results. Voting began immediately at the completion of the final game on Sunday. We gathered over 1700 votes before the closing of polls at 12:00PM Eastern on Tuesday April 18, 2023. We thank all who voted!

Fans were asked to nominate any player they deemed worthy of the honor, in three categories: Offensive, Defensive, and Special teams. Winners below are based on the number of votes received for each player.

XFL Offensive Player of the Week:
#6 Ben DiNucci, Quarterback, Seattle Sea Dragons

In the Seattle Sea Dragons Week 9 game against the St. Louis Battlehawks, Ben DiNucci completed 21 of 31 passes for 260 yards, two touchdowns, one interception, and added 38 yards rushing with one touchdown to win by a score of 30-12. DiNucci’s 68-yard touchdown pass to Jahcour Pearson in the third quarter was the straw that broke the Battlehawks back in a Sea Dragons win that tied St. Louis in the standings for the final playoff position.

The fans said:

  • Came up big at the right time throwing a long pass to Pearson that put the game out of reach for the Battlehawks. (John)

Honorable Mentions

Devin Darrington, Running Back, Orlando Guardians

  • Darrington was money for Dormady with 16 carries, 133 yards, and one touchdown. (Curtis)
  • Darrington ran for over 100 yards which is rare for the XFL this season. (Don)

Jack Coan, Quarterback, San Antonio Brahmas

  • Coan had one of his best games, no interceptions, to get the win and keep the Brahmas in the playoff hunt. (Brahma Fan)
  • Coan had a great day completing 25 of 31 passes for 302 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions. (Sam K.)

XFL Defensive Player of the Week:
#33 Drew Beesley, Defensive Lineman, San Antonio Brahmas

Drew Beesley came up big in a must win game against the Orlando Guardians, recording 1.5 sacks, four tackles, and one interception for a touchdown.

The fans said:

  • Game changer. Beesley caught a tipped ball and returned the interception for a crucial touchdown. (Red)
  • Beesley’s interception was returned for the touchdown that sealed the win for San Antonio. (Anonymous)

XFL Special Teams Player of the Week:
#19 Mac Brown, Punter, Orlando Guardians

In a game against the Brahmas, Orlando Guardians Punter Mac Brown combined a stellar punting job of four punts for 182 yards (45.5 yard average) with a 69-yard pass completion to K.D. Cannon.

The fans said:

  • Mac Brown punted like a champion, and he showed us he has a gun for an arm completing a 69-yard pass on a fake punt. (Barkley)
  • Fake punt to a huge pass down field. It worked and the Guardians would score on Brown’s play. (Anonymous)
  • Brown’s 69-yard bomb to KD Cannon in the second quarter set the Guardians up for a Darrington touchdown. The Guardians needed a 4th down conversion to stay in the game and Brown gave them all that and more. (Michael)
