It has been reported quarterback Paxton Lynch has signed with the Orlando Guardians of the XFL.

Reported by Twitter user @xflanalyst, Lynch was seen working out with the Guardians wearing jersey #6.

Lynch played college football at University of Memphis, and was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Playing two seasons in Denver, Lynch made four starts before being released.

On October 2, 2016, playing his first NFL regular-season game against the Buccaneers, Lynch came in as a replacement for an injured Trevor Siemian, where he completed 14 of 24 passes for 170 yards and his first career touchdown pass. In Week 5, Lynch started his first NFL game, completing 23 of 35 passes for 223 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in a 23–16 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. In Week 13, Lynch came in again as a replacement for Siemian against the Jaguars and recorded 12 for 24 passes for 104 yards in a 20–10 win.

In the 2018 preseason, Lynch suffered a shoulder injury. He finally returned to the regular roster in week 11 as a backup to Brock Osweiler. Lynch was named the starter for the Week 12 game against the Oakland Raiders where he completed 9 of 14 passes for 41 yards and an interception. Lynch left the game with an ankle injury in the third quarter. He returned to play in the Broncos regular season finale against the Kansas City Chiefs, where he finished 21 of 31 for 254 passing yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in a 27–24 loss.

Lynch was released by the Broncos early in the 2018 season. He went to the Seahawks and Steelers where he saw no active roster time.

On June 28, 2021, Lynch signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League, but saw no playing time with the Riders. He was released in February 2022, when he signed with the Michigan Panthers of the USFL after being selected with the eighth pick of the 12th round of the 2022 USFL Draft.

With the Panthers, Lynch dressed for six games and started in three. He completed 54 passes in 83 attempts, for 550 yards, 5 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. Unfortunately, he sustained a leg injury and was transferred to the inactive roster on May 5, 2022.

Lynch joins Quinten Dormady, Deondre Francois, and Mitch Kidd as potential Guardian quarterbacks, with Lynch having the most professional playing experience in the room.
