Recently, XFL Orlando Guardian quarterback Quinten Dormady had been accused of sharing his team’s plays with an opposing team. This accusation was revealed in an online tweet that also pointed out Dormady had been released from the Guardians and his player record was removed from XFL.com.

It is true that Dormady’s player record was removed from the website, however we have confirmed that Dormady was never officially informed of his release.

Incidentally, the original tweet that revealed this situation was deleted a few hours after it was posted. However, the information in that original tweet has taken on a life of its own with media outlets running with this sketchy information and extrapolating the original post to say Dormady had “revealed the entire playbook,” or that he had “sold” the plays.

A source close to the situation has told XFLBoard that these accusations are completely false.

Apparently, the truth is that Dormady discussed how he would not be playing in the Orlando Guardians week 2 game as the team had opted to rotate their backup quarterbacks behind their starter Paxton Lynch. Head coach Terrell Buckley had decided that both backups would be scheduled to take snaps in the first two games, with Quinten Dormady taking the first game and Deondre Francois taking the second game. This fact was revealed in the ESPN broadcast as something Buckley had told the ESPN field reporter. It was clearly not a secret.

The accusation made against Dormady was how he had revealed this specific fact to a player on another team, thus allowing the San Antonio Brahmas to focus their preparations for Deondre Francois as Paxton Lynch’s intended backup.

As has been falsely reported, nothing else was discussed, as we have confirmed directly from the player who Dormady spoke to:

“Let me clear it up. We talk every week and he said he wasn’t playing which was also said on a national broadcast. There was zero strategy that was discussed.”

When presented with these details, Jeff Altstadter, the XFL Vice-President of Communications, responded with the same statement released yesterday: “The League is actively reviewing a personnel issue regarding a player on the Orlando Guardians who was released from the team yesterday afternoon. Additional information on the situation was brought to the attention of the League overnight, and the League has reinstated the player while it conducts a formal investigation into the issue. The situation is under review, and we will share more details regarding the findings as appropriate.”

Sources close to Dormady feel the XFL is doing a good job investigating this situation and are hopeful Quinten Dormady’s name is cleared so he may continue his pro football career unencumbered by false accusations.

Dormady’s name and statistics have been restored on the XFL web site, however he is listed as a reserve for Sunday’s game against the Arlington Renegades.
