The pending XFL and USFL merger has likely resulted in staff departures as news of XFL staff leaving the league for other positions has dominated alternative football social media.

The most significant departure so far has been Marc Ross, Executive VP of Football Operations. His departure has been confirmed via his LinkedIn profile.

Prior to being hired as the XFL’s Vice President of Football Operations, Marc Ross appeared as an analyst on NFL Network, worked for a year as a consultant for NFL Football Operations, and spent 11 years with the New York Giants, a time when they won two Super Bowls.

When Marc Ross was hired by the XFL it was looking for someone with talent and clear connections to the big league.

“It was important for Danny and DJ (Dwayne Johnson) to get experienced, NFL people involved with this,” Marc Ross explained in an interview with XFLBoard.com. “Doug Whaley had been a part of the 2020 version, so that’s how I got involved with it. It was something I had been involved with in the NFL, and so established. But, here was something new and fresh.”

The idea of being involved in something new and exciting was a common theme among those that came to work for the XFL in 2018/19 and again in 2022. “Let’s see if we can get this thing going, and get it started up,” Ross quipped at the time.

In addition to Marc Ross, via social media Arlington Renegades Director of Communications and Media Relations Matt Millian announced his departure from the XFL to a new position as Director of Events Marketing and Public Relations with REV Entertainment, the exclusive events partner of the Texas Rangers, Globe Life Field and Choctaw Stadium.

It is also rumored that Travis Watkins, Houston Roughnecks Director of Sales & Experience, and Ellie Pardee, Houston Roughnecks Director of Sponsorship Sales have also left the league.

We expect many more departures have taken place, or are about to take place.
