Former Seattle Sea Dragons quarterback Ben DiNucci was initially activated by the Denver Broncos of the National Football League. However, at game time DiNucci remained inactive.

As reported by CBS Sports, “DiNucci was elevated from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, sparking speculation that Russell Wilson and/or Jarrett Stidham were dealing with injuries. However, that doesn’t appear to be the case, so DiNucci has been made inactive.”

Football opportunities seem to be elusive for XFL star Ben DiNucci.

DiNucci, 27, originally signed with the Broncos on May 15, 2023, the first day XFL players could officially sign NFL contracts. He was waived on Aug. 29, 2023, and re-signed to the practice squad.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound quarterback started all 10 regular season games for the Sea Dragons last season, going 7-3. He led the XFL in passing yards (2,671), attempts (374), completions (272), quarterback rushing yards (305) and finished second in passing touchdowns (23). In his sole postseason game, he went 31-for-48, throwing for 295 yards and three touchdowns as the Sea Dragons fell to the D.C. Defenders, 37-21.

DiNucci was originally selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the seventh round (231st overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft. He played in three games for the Cowboys in the 2020 season, including one start on Oct. 31, 2020, in a 23-9 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

DiNucci, a Pennsylvania native, originally played college football at the University of Pittsburgh out of high school before transferring and finishing his collegiate career at James Madison University. Following a successful senior season at James Madison, he earned All-CAA, CAA Offensive Player of the Year and AFCA first-team All-American honors. He led the Dukes to the FCS Championship Game where they fell to North Dakota State University, 20-14.
