Welcome to our XFL Week 1 – Players of the Week – “Fan’s Choice” results. Voting began immediately at the completion of the final game on Sunday. We gathered over 2300 votes before the closing of polls at 12PM Eastern on Tuesday 21 February, 2023. We thank all who voted!
Fans were asked to nominate any player they deemed worthy of the honor, in three categories: Offensive, Defensive, and Special teams.
Winners below are based on the number of votes received for each player.
XFL Offensive Player of the Week:
#13 Austin Proehl, Wide Receiver, St. Louis Battlehawks
Late in the Battlehawks-Brahmas game, Austin Proehl caught a clutch three-point conversion pass to make the score 15-12 for the Brahmas. Then with 1:25 remaining in the game, the Battlehawks chose to attempt the 4th and 15 play from their own 25 instead of the onside kick. Austin Proehl made the catch on the sidelines. and the Battlehawks were still in business. In the ensuing drive, with seconds remaining on the clock, a pass to Proehl in the end zone won the game for the Battlehawks.

XFL Defensive Player of the Week:
Trent Harris, Defensive Lineman, Houston Roughnecks
In a decisive win, Trent Harris racked up four sacks for the Roughnecks, setting an XFL record. In comparison, in 2020 the Guardians Cavon Walker led the XFL with 4.5 sacks through 5 games. Harris nearly matched that effort in one game.

XFL Special Teams Player of the Week:
Taylor Russolino, Kicker, Arlington Renegades
Taylor Russolino, Arlington Renegades, was 3-0 at field goal kicks for the win. He was successful from 38 yards, 32, and 25.
