On July 29, 2023, XFL San Antonio Brahmas quarter Reid Sinnett signed with the Cincinnati Bengals who were looking for a backup pivot to fill in under their injured starter Joe Burrow.

Sinnett grew up in Johnston, Iowa and attended Johnston High School, passing for 2,202 yards and 16 touchdowns as a senior. He enrolled for college at San Diego and redshirted in his freshman season. He spent the next three years as a backup, passing for a total of 316 yards with one touchdown on 24-of-48 passes. In his senior season Sinnett was the team’s starter, passing for 3,528 yards, 32 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while rushing for 174 yards and six touchdowns.

Sinnett signed as an undrafted free agent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in April 2020, but was waived before the regular season. He signed with the Miami Dolphins practice squad on September 14, 2020 and was moved up to the active roster on two occasions, November 28 and January 2, 2021, for the team’s weeks 12 and 17 games against the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills. In 2021, he was again promoted to the active roster on September 25, 2021, after an injury to starter Tua Tagovailoa. The Dolphins waived him shortly afterward.

After being claimed off waivers by the Philadelphia Eagles on October 25, 2021, Sinnett never received any playing time with the Eagles, and was eventually cut loose in September 2022. He was re-signed to the Miami Dolphins practice squad on October 3, 2022, but was released on November 1, 2022.

Sinnett was assigned to the San Antonio Brahmas of the XFL in November 2022. He played in one game for the Brahmas, in a week five game against the Arlington Renegades, throwing 13 for 19 passes, for 97 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Unfortunately, he was placed on the injured reserve after suffering a broken foot.
