XFL Quarterbacks that could help the Cowboys

With the Dallas Cowboys star quarterback being placed on the injured reserve after a gruesome injury, this leaves America’s team with Andy Dalton as the signal-caller. Dalton did not live up to expectation on Monday night, and behind Dalton all the Cowboys have is rookie quarterback Ben DiNucci from James Madison University.

It would be smart for Jerry Jones and the Cowboys to start seeking the landscape for another quarterback to potentially start. Even just as a quarterback in case Dalton does not live up to the hype.

Brandon Silvers

XFL Seattle Dragons quarterback Brandon Silvers

Brandon Silvers has to be the most overlooked candidate. The former Dragons quarterback was never bad, he was just disrespected.

In just four games, Silvers threw six touchdowns for 539 yards. He has a hidden throw on the run talent within him as well. The only arguable thing with Silvers would be accuracy, but really he was never inaccurate. He did throw four interceptions but two weren’t completely his fault.

The best trait of Silvers is easily his confidence. He stays invigorated and locked in even when the home crowd turns against him for the popular back up like in Seattle with BJ Daniels, and Memphis with Johnny Manziel as his back up.

Adding to Silvers’ credibility, he and his Troy Trojans walked into Death Valley at LSU and won.

Quinton Flowers

XFL Tampa Bay Vipers quarterback Quinton Flowers

The dual-threat quarterback Quinton Flowers.Β  Flowers had some action in the XFL both at running back and quarterback.

Flowers fits the mold of a solid quarterback who would do well in the Cowboys system. He is very versatile, much like Dak Prescott. Flowers was one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks, arguably ever at the college level during his days at the University of South Florida.

In his junior and senior years of college, he hit the millennium mark in both pass yards and rush yards.

Even Flowers himself thinks he would fit into the Cowboy’s organization.

Luis Perez

XFL New York Guardians quarterback Luis Perez

Luis Perez has always been an underdog from the start.Β  He put on a great show in New York when his number was called as a member of the Guardians.

Perez threw three touchdown passes in three games, two of which were starts. He only had one interception and showcased a 92.1 QBR.

The Division II Texas A&M- Commerce product has always put up great numbers but always has been overlooked.

The Cowboys should bring him back to his college home state, the fans would love a small school guy coming in to take over for their beloved Dak Prescott.

Josh Johnson

XFL LA Wildcats quarterback Josh Johnson

The journeyman himself, Josh Johnson would be another great fit in Dallas. He has been signed to 15 NFL teams but never the Dallas Cowboys yet.

Johnson at age 34, he can still sling it. Johnson threw 11 touchdowns with only two interceptions during his five XFL games. That includes a four-touchdown performance against Tampa Bay to close the season.

Johnson had throw 1076 yards through the air.

He has some hidden speed but did not need to show much of it in the XFL being he only rushed for 30 yards.

The Future

The Dallas Cowboys need to make a move soon. Any of these quarterbacks should be Jerry Jones’ top priority. All of these gunslingers bring a great attitude and a great arm onto their roster. The XFL proved to be a quarterback breeder that already sent Jordan Ta’amu to the reigning Super Bowl Champions, the Kansas City Chiefs. The XFL also sent MVP PJ Walker to the Carolina Panthers.
