By design, the conclusion of the XFL regular season occurs just prior to NFL teams holding their rookie minicamps. That allows eligible XFL players to attend these offseason workouts, and several have already received invitations.

Per Mike Mitchell, players under XFL contract may attend these minicamps (as long as they are eligible, according to NFL rules) as tryout players. However, they are not permitted to actually sign with an NFL team until May 15, two days after the XFL Championship game. Rookie minicamps are usually held for draft picks, undrafted free agents, and rookies trying out for the weekend hoping to secure a deal. Select veterans may also be invited to try out, which is where XFL players come in.

Pro Football Network’s Aaron Wilson has been tweeting many undrafted free-agent signings and tryout offers since the draft concluded on Saturday. He has also noted a number of XFL players who will be attending these rookie minicamps later this month. Among them:

-Brahmas QB Jack Coan will attend minicamp with the New York Jets this weekend and with the Seattle Seahawks the weekend after.

-Fellow Brahma, K John Parker Romo, will try out with the Detroit Lions.

-Another Brahma, RB Jacques Patrick, will try out with the Denver Broncos.

-Battlehawks DE Freedom Akinmoladun was invited to attend the rookie minicamp of the Miami Dolphins.

-Sea Dragons OT Barry Wesley will be brought in by the Atlanta Falcons for a tryout.

In addition, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that Roughnecks LB Trent Harris, amid heavy interest from NFL teams, will work out for the Denver Broncos. Per his agent, Battlehawks RB Mataeo Durant will attend minicamp with the New York Jets. XFL News Hub’s Evan Willsmore has tweeted out workout info and NFL interest for several Roughneck players. Offers for others will likely follow. A minicamp invite is the first step in getting on the radar of NFL teams. We’ll have to wait almost two weeks – until the 15th at least – to see if these players can turn workouts into contracts.
