This was the third meeting of these two teams, with the series tied 1-1. Arlington defeated San Antonio by a score of 12-10 in week five at The Alamodome, and the following week, the Brahmas got their revenge with a 15-9 victory over the Renegades at Choctaw Stadium. However, so much has changed since then, and the past games are merely statistics.

This game was not only a matchup of Texas teams; it was also a matchup of legends, namely Wade Phillips and Bob Stoops. The two iconic head coaches met three times during the 2023 XFL season, including twice in the regular season before clashing in the South Division Playoff Game in Houston. Phillips, now in his 55th season in the coaching world, boasts a 93-74 overall head coaching record across the NFL, XFL, and UFL. Stoops boasts a 199-61 overall head coaching record across the NCAA, XFL, and UFL.

Arlington Renegades kicker Jonathan Garibay kicked off 70 yards, and San Antonio’s Brycen Alleyne returned the ball to the San Antonio 35-yard line. Brahmas quarterback Quentin Dormady passed to Jontre Kirklin for a 1-yard loss, and then passed again to Kirklin, this time for 6 yards. A pass to Cody Latimer drew a defensive pass interference penalty, giving the Brahmas a first down. A handoff to John Lovett gained 36 yards, and a handoff to Marquez Stevenson gained 6 more yards. Dormady passed 4 yards to Lovett, and then was sacked for a 4-yard loss. The Brahmas settled for a 43-yard Ryan Santoso field goal to make the score 3-0 for San Antonio.

The second half began with a 62-yard Santoso kickoff that was returned by Manigo to the Arlington 33. A handoff to Hunter gained 2 yards, and then another handoff to Hunter gained zero yards. On third down, a 14-yard pass to Cannella moved the markers. Perez passed to Payton for 16 yards and then handed to Hunter for 3 more yards.
