The 2-1 Panthers prowled into San Antonio for their first road game of the UFL campaign against a 2-1 Brahmas team that just dropped their first game of the season in a close one to St. Louis last Sunday. This was San Antonio’s third home game, the second of a back-to-back home stand, and Michigan’s first road game. of the 2024 UFL season.

This weekend, “Fiesta” took over San Antonio. Fiesta San Antonio is a vibrant, city-wide festival held annually in San Antonio, Texas, that began over 130 years ago. it was hoped this might gives a boost to the attendance at the Alamodome, however, it does not appear to have had any effect.

Michigan’s Jake Bates kicked of 70 yards and Landen Akers returned the ball to the San Antonio 34-yard line. San Antonio quarterback Quinten Dormady passed to Jontre Kirklin for an 8-yard gain, and then handed to John Lovett for 3 yards and a first down. Another handoff to Lovett lost 2 yards, and then Dormady passed to Lovett for 4 yards. On third and 8, Dormady passed to Justin Smith for a 39-yard gain.

With first and 10 on the Michigan 14, Dormady passed to Lovett for 6 yards and then handed to Lovett for a 3-yard run. On third and 1, Lovett ran 5 yards for a Brahmas touchdown. The one-point conversion was good on a 2-yard Marquez Stevenson rush, to make the score 7-0 for San Antonio.

Ryan Santoso kicked off 67 yards and the ball was returned by Levonta Taylor to the Michigan 31-yard line. Michigan Panthers quarterback E.J. Perry was sacked for a 4-yard loss, and then Perry completed a 10-yard pass to Marcus Simms. Perry completed a 4-yard pass to Devin Gray for a first down.

A handoff to Matthew Colburn lost a yard, and then a pass intended for Gray was incomplete. A pass to Mariner gained 10-yards, but it was a yard short of the first down marker. The Panthers were forced to punt.

The punt went into the end zone for a touchback and the ball was spotted on the Brahmas 25-yard line.

Dormady passed 9 yards to Kirklin, and then handed to Lovett for a 1-yard gain. Dormady passed deep to Kirklin for a 43-yard gain, and then passed incomplete to Latimer. A handoff to Lovett made 4 yards, and then a false start penalty set the Brahmas back 5 yards. After Dormady could not complete a pass to Stevenson, the Brahmas settled for a 4-yard Santoso field goal to make the score 10-0 for San Antonio.

Taylor returned the Santoso kickoff to the Michigan 34. Perry handed to Wes Hills for no gain, and then attempted a pass to Simms, which drew a 15-yard defensive pass interference penalty. Perry handed to Hills for 1 yard, and then Perry ran the ball, but the Panthers received an offensive holding penalty. On second and 19, Perry passed to Quinn for 11 yards, and then another Perry run was nullified by another offensive holding penalty. On third and 18, Perry ran 13 yards to the San Antonio 46 as the first quarter ended.

Michigan’s Miller punted 34 yards and the ball was taken via a fair catch at the San Antonio 12-yard line. Dormady passed to Cody Latimer for 2 yards, and then threw to Smith for a gain of 7 yards. A handoff to Lovett made 2 yards and a first down. Dormady passed to Stevenson for a 9-yard gain, and then handed to Brycen Alleyne for 1 yard and another first down.

A pass to Lovett lost a yard, and then a pass intended for Stevenson fell incomplete. A pass down field was long and over the head of Akers, but the Panthers took a 5-yard offside penalty. On 3rd and 5, Dormady was pressured and flushed out of the pocket. Dormady was hit when he went out of bounds, and San Antonio’s head coach Wade Phillips challenged the play for unnecessary roughness on Dormady. The challenge failed and San Antonio was forced to punt.

The punt was returned to Michigan 19-yard line, but a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty was tacked on, placing the ball on the 29-yard line. Perry handed the ball to Hills for a 1-yard gain, and then passed incomplete to Jordan Suell. Perry was pressured and ran out of bounds at the Michigan 36 for a 6-yard gain. Michigan setup to punt, but snapped the ball directly to Hills and he ran 24 yards for a first down on the San Antonio 40.

Perry was sacked for a 1 yard loss, and then ran the ball for 13 yards and another first down. A handoff to Colburn made 11 yards, and then Perry was sacked and he fumbled. The Brahmas’ Jordan Williams recovered the fumble on the San Antonio 28-yard line.

Dormady passed incomplete to Kirklin, and then connected to Smith for an 18-yard reception and a first down. A pass to Stevenson was incomplete, and then another pass to Smith was good for 17 yards on the Michigan 37-yard line. Finally, a long pass into the end zone was intercepted by Michigan’s Kai Nacua.

Perry started on his own 25-yard line and handed to Colburn for a 2-yuard gain. Perry went back to Colburn for a 4-yard rush, and then Perry was sacked for a 10-yard loss as the two minute warning was announced.

The Panthers were forces to punt, and Marquez Stevenson returned the ball all the way to the Michigan 40-yard line. Dormady passed 10 yards to Justin Smith and a first down. Dormady was sacked for a 5-yard loss, and then passed down field complete 16 yards to Kirklin. A handoff to Lovett made 1 yard, and then a pass to Latimer gained 12 yards to the Michigan 4-yard line. A 4-yard pass to Stevenson in the end zone scored a Brahmas touchdown. The one-point conversion attempt failed, making the score 16-0 for San Antonio.

Taylor returned the Santoso kickoff to the Michigan 34-yard line.  Perry passed 18-yards down the sideline to Quinn, and then ran the ball himself for 17 yards. With 0:05 remaining, Jake Bates kicked a 49-yard field goal to make the score 16-3 at halftime.

The second half began with Santoso kicking off 74 yards to the Michigan 6-yard line. Taylor returned the kick to the Michigan 41-yard line. E. J. Perry started his drive by passing 20-yards to Trey Quinn, and then an offensive holding call set them back 10 yards. On first and 20, Perry could not connect a pass to Hills, and then managed to complete a 4-yard pass to Cole Hikutini. On third and 16, Perry could not complete a pass to Colburn and the Panthers were forced to punt.

After the Brock Miller punt, the ball was downed on the San Antonio 20-yard line. Dormady handed to Lovett for a 20-yard gain, and then passed to Latimer for 8 yards and a first down. A handoff to Alleyne made 4 yards, and then a pass to Smith gained 10 yards for another first down on the San Antonio 43.

Dormady’s pass up the middle to Latimer fell incomplete, and then a pass to Smith drew a defensive pass interference penalty, which spotted the ball on the Michigan 49-yard line. A pass to Stevenson was broken up by the Michigan defence, and then a pass to Alize Mack was not caught. On third and 10, Dormady was pressured and almost sacked, but got a pass away to Alleyne that was not caught, and the Brahmas were forced to punt.

Brad Wing punted and the ball bounced into the end zone, giving the Panthers the ball on their own 25-yard line. Perry could not connect a pass to Gray, and then was tripped up for a 1-yard loss. After the sack, Perry clutched his hamstring and was noticeably limping. Perry threw another incomplete pass and the Panthers were forced to punt.

Stevenson returned the punt to the San Antonio 32-yard line. Dormady passed 7 yards to Latimer, and then threw incomplete to K.D. Cannon. A 6-yard pass to Smith was good for a first down. Dormady handed to Ellison who lost a yard, and then passed incomplete to Stevenson. A pass to Smith was also incomplete, forcing the Brahmas to punt.

Quinn returned the punt to the Michigan 20-yard line. Backup quarterback Danny Etling came into the game for Michigan and handed to Hills for a short gain. An illegal formation penalty pushed Michigan back 5 yards. Etling passed to Hills for a 9-yard gain, and then he passed 10 yards to Suell to move the markers as the third quarter ended.

Etling hit Marcus Simms for a 6-yard gain on the sideline, and then handed to Colburn who made 2 yards. On third and 2, Etling passed to Simms, but the ball spinned off his hands and fell incomplete. The Panthers were forced to punt.

The punt rolled into the end zone, giving the Brahmas the ball on their own 25-yard line. Dormady handed to Lovett for a 2-yard gain, and then passed deep to Jontre Kirklin for a 24-yard pickup. A handoff to Lovett gained zero yards, and then a short pass to Latimer gained only 2 yards. A pass to Kirklin was dropped and the Brahmas were forced to punt.

After a fair catch was made on the Michigan 6-yard line, Etling passed 6 yards to Simms. A handoff to Colburn was good for 4 yards and a first down, and then Etling passed to Colburn for 4 more yards. Another pass to Colburn gained 3 yards, and then Etling was forced out of the pocket and scrambled for 3 yards before he fumbled. The ball was recovered by San Antonio’s Jordan Mosely at the Michigan 27-yard line.

Dormady passed 4 yards to Stevenson, and then handed to Lovett for a short 2-yard gain. On 3rd and 4, Dormady rushed for 2 yards, and then San Antonio opted for a Santoso 36-yard field goal to make the score 19-3 for San Antonio.

Santoso kicked off 71 yards and Taylor returned the ball to the Michigan 26-yard line. With 5:25 remaining, Etling passed deep downfield to Mariner, but the ball fell incomplete. Etling connected a 4-yard pass to Gray and then rushed 9 yards to the San Antonio 46 for a first down. A handoff to Colburn gained 4 yards, and then Etling passed deep to Marcus Simms for a 42-yard touchdown. The two point conversion failed when Etling was sacked, making the score 19-9 for San Antonio.

With 3:19 remaining, instead of an onside kick the Panthers opted for a fourth and 12 play from their own 28-yard line. Etling passed 14 yards to Mariner for a first down. A 3-yard pass to Colburn was followed by a 3-yard catch by Quinn. On third and 4, Etling was sacked for a 16- yard loss as the two minute warning was announced.

On fourth and 20, Etling’s pass downfield was easily picked off by Jordan Mosely. Dormady handed to Ellison for a 3-yard gain, and then handed to Lovett who reversed his travel and managed to scoot for 11 yards and a first down. With 1:28 remaining, the Brahmas were able to go into victory formation and run out the clock.

The final score was San Antonio Brahmas 19, Michigan Panthers 9.
