LAS VEGAS, Nev. (January 21, 2000) – The San Francisco Demons placed two players on injured reserve and waived four others Sunday to trim their roster to the mandatory limit of 56, Coach Jim Skipper announced.

Released in the second of two cuts during training camp were cornerback Steve Johnson (Tennessee), linebacker Eric Quarles (San Jose State), defensive tackle Ken Talanoa (Arizona State) and offensive guard David Walden (Stephen F. Austin State).

In addition, quarterback Kevin Feterik and tight end Sean Manuel were placed on injured reserve, which requires at least four weeks of inactivity.

Feterik suffered a broken left thumb in Saturday’s scrimmage against Memphis and was scheduled for surgery in the Bay Area Monday. Manuel, elevated to the Demons’ No. 1 offensive unit last week, will have arthroscopic surgery on his knee. Manuel could be ready to play when the compulsory four-week period ends.

The Demons have five more days of practice this week in Las Vegas before breaking camp next Sunday. San Francisco must reduce to 45 players for its opening-day roster.

Earlier in the week, San Francisco had placed three players on four-week injured reserve. They are receiver Mike Adams (knee), offensive tackle Ben Nichols (foot) and defensive lineman Barry Mitchell (knee).
