LAS VEGAS (AP) — Jose Cortez kicked a 48-yard field goal as time expired to give the Los Angeles Xtreme a 12-9 victory over the Las Vegas Outlaws in the XFL on Saturday night.
Cortez also connected from 45, 44 and 36 yards to help Los Angeles (2-1) win for the second straight week.
Las Vegas, which allowed just three points in its first two games, dropped to 2-1 before a crowd of 26,135.
Xtreme safety Tinker Keck intercepted Mike Cawley’s pass and returned the ball to the Las Vegas 41 with 1:11 left to set up the winning field goal.
Los Angeles sacked Cawley, who played in place of injured starter Ryan Clement, seven times and limited Las Vegas to 140 yards of total offense.
While the Outlaws’ offense struggled, the defense held the Xtreme to 186 yards, including 39 rushing.
