Dwayne Johnson, part of the new XFL ownership group, announced that he has tested positive for COVID-19.
Johnson took to Instagram Wednesday evening to inform his fanbase and followers that he along with his wife and two daughters tested positive for COVID-19. They have been dealing with the virus for the past 2-3 weeks.
During his video post, Johnson was in good spirits while he debriefed his audience on his and his family’s condition. He reported that everyone in his family was progressing well and on the backside of the illness.
Johnson identified a visit with very close family friends as the source of the infection. The family who infected the Johnson family was devastated and unaware they were infected prior to the visit. He mentioned he leads an extremely disciplined lifestyle, with his health, exercise, work ethic, and following best practice recommendations. During the video, you can see the emotional impact the last few weeks have had on him.
He went on to say that he should be used as an example. People desire social interaction and want to visit friends and family, and while he doesn’t dissuade folks from doing so, he reminds people to do it safely and maintain extra discipline and not to let your guard down.
Over 10 years ago, Johnson’s mother received a stage 3B lung cancer diagnosis. She had part of her lung removed during the treatment and now has low lung capacity along with COPD. Her health and safety are dependent on wearing a mask, both her wearing a mask along with everyone in her surrounding wearing a mask.
Johnson, along with Dany Garcia and RedBird Capital assumed control of the XFL after the deal was official on August 21st. Since then, there has been little news from the new group about how the new league will look. Johnson and his family dealing with COVID-19 may explain the quiet few weeks since acquisition.
