On Jan. 16, 2025, the UFL announced four new signings by the Birmingham Stallions. Each player in this pool of signings boasts a productive college resume at the Division I level and some degree of NFL experience. However, earning a spot for the reigning UFL champions is far from guaranteed with all the competition within these players’ position groups. With these additions, the Stallions’ roster now has 63 players, leaving three open slots for their training camp. The following is a breakdown of Birmingham’s latest transactions:

DE Bradlee Anae

Bradlee Anae was selected in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys after four seasons at The University of Utah, where he was a three-year starter. With the Utes, Anae was a two-time First-Team All-Pac-12 Selection (2018, 2019) and a Consensus All-American selection after a senior campaign which saw him record 41 tackles, including 14.0 for a loss, and 13.0 sacks. His All-American season in 2019 also saw him earn the Morris Trophy, awarded annually to both the best Pac-12 offensive and defensive linemen. Overall, he totaled 131 tackles, including 40.0 for a loss, 29.5 sacks, and five forced fumbles in 39 career games at Utah.

Anae saw minimal playing time with the Cowboys during his rookie season. In 2021, he appeared in four games, making two tackles, but was not retained after the season ended. He has since spent time, primarily on the practice squads and/or training camp rosters, of the New York Jets (two separate stints) and Atlanta Falcons.

WR Jalen Camp

Jalen Camp spent the entirety of his five-year collegiate career at Georgia Tech. He became a starter as a senior in 2019, but took a redshirt after four games to have surgery on a nagging injury. In 2020, a fully healthy Camp broke out during his redshirt senior season, leading the Yellow Jackets with 29 receptions for 439 yards and four touchdowns.

After a productive final collegiate season plus a dominant pro day performance which saw Camp post a 40-inch vertical and a total of 30 reps on bench press, he was selected in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, the team released him after his rookie training camp. He has since bounced around the practice squads and/or offseason rosters of four different NFL organizations, most recently spending 2024 training camp with the Cleveland Browns.

CB Steven Gilmore

Steven Gilmore, the younger brother of former All-Pro NFL cornerback Stephon Gilmore, was a two-time Second-Team All-Conference honoree at Marshall University. Gilmore finished his collegiate career with the Thundering Herd with 200 total tackles, 44 passes defended, and nine interceptions.

The Detroit Lions signed Gilmore as an undrafted free agent in 2023 but waived him as part of final preseason roster cutdowns. He has not been part of any NFL organization since. He joins a Birmingham secondary that returns the majority of its starters from last season while also welcoming former third-day NFL draft picks Rachad Wildgoose and Tre Norwood.

WR Tyron Johnson

Despite going undrafted in 2019, Tyron Johnson has the most NFL experience of any of the players in this batch of signings from the Stallions. During the 2020 NFL season, Johnson had 20 receptions for 398 yards and three touchdowns in 12 games coming off the bench with the Los Angeles Chargers. Despite the solid season for the second-year undrafted receiver, he was not retained by the Chargers for the next season. He was most recently with the Dallas Cowboys, where he spent the 2023 season on their practice squad.

Before the NFL, Johnson was a standout at Oklahoma State University where he transferred after his true freshman year at LSU. Over two seasons with the Cowboys, the former five-star recruit recorded a staggering 1,138 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns on 71 catches. Instead of playing his senior season and potentially raising his stock, he entered the 2019 NFL Draft. During his pro day, he ran an impressive 4.36 40.
