On Friday July 7, 2023, the XFL held a player showcase at Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis, and as Battlehawks head coach Anthony Becht said it was the first time the XFL had held a showcase in the Gateway City.

XFL and Battlehawks digital host Lia Musgrave set the scene for the showcase with the following digital introduction:

“It’s XFL showcase season and we are so excited to be here in St. Louis, where hundreds of season athletes from all across the country are gearing up to showcase their skills in front of our XFL coaches and personnel directors. Now during the showcases players will be evaluated for inclusion in the NFL Draft player pool for the upcoming 2024 season and the top performers will be invited to the NFL Combine, which will be held at the end of the month in Arlington, Texas. Our goal is to make football more accessible to more players and these showcases do just that by putting these players directly in front of our NFL teams. And in fact 66 showcase standouts from last season ended up on training camp rosters in 2023. Now we kicked off our showcase series in Atlanta last month, but we cannot wait to see what St. Louis DC Houston and Arizona have to offer. Make sure to follow along with the XFL on social media as we bring you full scale coverage of our 2023 showcase series and let us know who you think is going to take this league by storm from St. Louis for the XFL. I’m Lia Musgrave.”

XFL St. Louis Battlehawks head coach Anthony Becht and quarterback A.J. McCarron were on hand to welcome the participants.
