This was the first matchup between Orlando and St. Louis and the final regular season game for both teams. While Orlando was out of the hunt for a berth in the XFL South Division Championship game, this game had plenty of impact on the North Division race. St. Louis needed a win to remain in the XFL North Division Championship. Meanwhile, If Orlando won they would help Seattle who are competing with the Battlehawks for a berth in the Northern Division Championship.

Orlando’s Borregales kicked off and St. Louis’s Shepherd returned the ball to the 20. Quarterback A.J. McCarron handed to Durant, and then tried a short pass again to Durant. They could not make a first down and the Battlehawks would punt.

The punt return was bobbled, and Orlando’s Henry jumped on the loose ball so the Guardians could retain possession. From his own 21, Orlando’s backup quarterback Deondre Francois started with two incomplete passes before he connected to Charleston Rambo for an 11-yard pass and a first down. Then, a short pass to Devin Darrington was converted into a 17-yard gain. On 1st down, Francois handed to Darrington, but the Battlehawks Feeney dropped him for a 4-yard loss. Francois passed to Williams for a 13-yard gain, and then Darrington ran 1-yard to move the chains.

On the St. Louis 41-yard line, Francois had a drive going.  He passed 5-yards to Rambo, and then a holding call against St. Louis gave him a first down. On first down the ball was stripped from Francois and recovered by St. Louis, but a Battlehawks offside penalty cancelled the turnover. A huge 27-yard pass from Francois to a wide-open Andrew Jamiel in the end zone was good for an Orlando major. The 1-point conversion failed, making the score 6-0 for Orlando.

A decent kick return and an Orlando penalty gave McCarron the ball on his own 42-yard line. A 5-yard pass to Hakeem Butler was followed by a 36-yard bomb to Steven Mitchell on the Orlando 17. Orlando’s defense stood strong and the Battlehawks were forced to take a 35-yard Hageman field goal, making the score 6-3 for Orlando.

Deondre Francois started on his own 26 and handed to Darrington who was stuffed for a 3-yard loss. Francois rushed for 7-yards, however, on his next play he passed poorly and the ball was intercepted by Brandon Sebastian and returned to the Orlando 42.

McCarron started by rushing for 4 yards and then passed incomplete to Ateman as the first quarter ended.

At the end of the first quarter Orlando led 6-3.

McCarron passed 29-yards to Hakeem Butler to the Orlando 9, and then got 7 more yards on a pass to Mitchell. On 4th and goal from the 1-yard line, McCarron handed to Kareem Walker who ran for the touchdown. The 2-point conversion failed making the score 9-6 for St. Louis.

Francois still in at quarterback, started a drive on his own 27. A pass deep downfield to Jamiel was off target and nearly picked off. Orlando went three-and-out and were forced to punt. However, punter Mac Brown faked the punt and threw downfield to Jordan Thomas who managed to catch the ball and avoid tackle as he ran 84-yards all the way to the end zone. The 2-point conversion failed and Orlando went ahead 12-9.

The kickoff was returned to the St. Louis 30. McCarron handed to Mataeo Durant for a 7-yard gain, and then handed to Durant again for 8-yards and a first down. McCarron passed deep left to Shepherd who reeled in the pass for 34 yards. From the Orlando 21, Walker rushed 11 yards to the Orlando 10. On 1st and goal, Mataeo Durant rushed for 3-yards, and then McCarron passed off his back foot to Hakeem Butler for the touchdown. The 2-point conversion attempt was good with a pass to Marcel Ateman in the corner of the end zone. St. Louis now led 17-12.

Quinten Dormady was now in at quarterback for Orlando. From his own 45-yard line, Dormady passed 45-yards to K.D. Cannon for the Orlando major. The 2-point conversion pass to Jamiel was good and Orlando went ahead 20-17.

After the kickoff, McCarron started his drive on his own 34-yard line. On 3rd and 6, Gary Jennings caught a pass and converted it into a 17-yard gain. On 3rd and 3, McCarron passed into the end zone to Mitchell, but Orlando’s Hosein defended the catch. On 4th and 3, McCarron managed to throw 4-yards to Hakeem Butler to move the chains just before the two-minute warning.

A pass to Hakeem Butler was good for a 25-yard gain to the Orlando 5-yard line, and then a pass to Jake Sutherland scored the touchdown. The 2-point conversion attempt was good with a pass to Hakeem Butler. The score was now 25-20 for St. Louis.

With the clock running down, Dormady took over on his own 23-yard line. He passed to Jamiel for 6-yards, and then to Cody Latimer for a 17-yard catch. A 26-yard pass to Rambo put the ball on the St. Louis 28. After Orlando took a 5-yard penalty, with 0:05 remaining, Borregales attempted a 51-yard field goal and missed wide right.

At half time the St. Louis Battlehawks led 25-20.

Orlando took the kickoff in the 2nd half, and Thomas returned the ball to his own 23. Darrington rushed for 5-yards and then Dormady was sacked for a 7-yard loss. The Guardians were forced to punt.

McCarron started a drive on his 31 and passed to Hakeem Butler for 22-yards past midfield. A pass to Shepherd was completed for 12 yards to the Orlando 31-yard line. Kareem Walker rushed for 9-yards and was handed the ball again for a 5-yard gain and a first down. Another Walker rush was good for 7-yards, and then a 13-yard pass to Steven Mitchell was caught in the end zone for the Battlehawks touchdown.  The 2-point conversion pass to Mitchell was good to make the score 33-20 for St. Louis.

Dormady started his drive deep on the Orlando 15. A 12-yard pass to Cody Latimer moved the chains. On 3rd and 3, a 5-yard pass to Smith moved the markers again. Dormady passed 4-yards to Williams, and then was sacked by Lumor for an 8-yard loss. On 3rd and 14, Dormady was sacked by London for another 3-yards lost. The Guardians had to punt.

From his own 33, McCarron handed to Durant for 1-yard, and then he passed to Hakeem Butler for a 66-yard touchdown. Orlando challenged the play for offensive holding and the challenge failed. The 3-point conversion attempt failed, making the score 39-20 for St. Louis.

Orlando put Deondre Francois back in at quarterback. From his own 31, Francois passed 6-yards to Cannon, and then ran the ball himself for 10-yards and a first down. A 5-yard pass to Darrington was followed by Francois being sacked by Lumor for a 4-yard loss. An 8-yard pass to Williams left the Guardians short of the first down marker. After review, it was determined that the Guardians had indeed made the first down.

At the end of the 3rd quarter St. Louis led 39-20.

On 4th and 2 from the St. Louis 35, Francois kept the ball and rushed 10-yards. Francois attempted a pass to Williams on the 5-yard line and was picked off by Lukas Denis, who returned the ball to the St. Louis 43.

McCarron passed to Durant for 28-yards to the Orlando 29, and then Durant rushed 10-yards for another first down. A-15-yard pass to Shepherd put the ball on the Orlando 4-yard line. Shepherd made a one-handed catch for the Battlehawks touchdown.  A 2-point conversion attempt failed, making the score 45-20 for St. Louis.

Dormady was back in at quarterback for the Guardians. He passed to Jamiel twice for a total of 10-yards to move the sticks, and then continued the drive with a 9-yard pass to Thomas, followed by an 11-yard pass again to Thomas. Dormady had a good drive going. On 3rd and 1, Dormady rushed 6-yards to the St. Louis 20.  A 9-yard pass to Rambo was followed by a 5-yard rush by Martin giving the Guardians first and goal on the St. Louis 6-yard line. A pass to Rambo in the end zone gave Orlando the major. A 2-point conversion pass to Cannon was good, making the score 45-28 for St. Louis.

Darrius Shepherd returned the kickoff 55-yards to the Orlando 39. McCarron passed 30-yards to Shepherd at the Orlando 10. On first down, Jennings rushed for 5-yards. On 3rd down McCarron passed incomplete to Butler in the end zone, but defensive pass interference placed the ball on the 1-yard line. A 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty against St. Louis’s Bushell-Beatty pushed the ball back just as the two-minute warning was called.

On 3rd and goal from the Orlando 16, McCarron passed to Steven Mitchell in the end zone for a Battlehawks touchdown. The two-point conversion attempt was good with a pass to Hakeem Butler, making the score 53-28 for St. Louis.

For the purpose of tiebreakers for final standings placement against the Seattle Sea Dragons, the Battlehawks needed to score as many points as possible. They kicked off to Orlando and Dormady started his drive on the Orlando 26. The Guardians went three-and-out and setup to punt back to the Battlehawks. Mac Brown faked the punt and passed the ball, but his pass was picked off Brandon Sebastian for his 2nd pick of the game.

With 1:19 on the clock, McCarron passed to Jennings for a 13-yard gain to the Orlando 28. McCarron passed twice more to Jennings for 7-yards total, and then McCarron was sacked for a 10-yard loss. On 4th and 13 Hageman was called upon for a 49-yard field goal attempt that was missed.

The Orlando Guardians opted to run out the clock, ending the game.

The final score was St. Louis Battlehawks 53, Orlando Guardians 28.
