Saturday afternoon’s contest at Camping World Stadium was huge for both Orlando and Arlington as it pertained to the race for a berth in the XFL South Division Championship game. Arlington was second in the division, with the top two teams in each division moving to the divisional championship game. But Orlando faced the two teams in front of it in the standings and victories over the Renegades and San Antonio could put the Guardians in position for a berth in the divisional championship game.

This was the second matchup of the season between the Guardians and Renegades. Arlington edged Orlando 10-9 in Game 3 in Arlington.

Arlington took the kickoff and Luis Perez started a Renegades drive on his own 35-yard line. A 13-yard pass to Arconado moved the markers, and then an 11-yard rush by Brown moved them again. Perez continued to drive the ball with rushes by Vaughns and De’Veon Smith. The Renegades settled for a 23-yard Taylor Russolino field goal to make the score 3-0 for Arlington.

The Orlando Guardians started their first drive on their own 34-yard line. Quinten Dormady went three and out and they were forced to punt.

Orlando punted but Arlington’s Powell bobbled the return and Thomas recovered for Orlando on the Arlington 8-yard line. Quinten Dormady could not convert for a touchdown and the Guardians kicked a 24-yard Borregales field goal to tie the game 3-3.

Perez started on the Arlington 27-yard line and passed to Payton for an 18-yard gain. Perez could do no more and the Renegades were forced to punt.

Dormady took over on the Orlando 37. Arlington’s Bausby scooped up a Dormady fumble and ran it all the way back for a Renegades touchdown. The 2-point conversion failed making the score 9-3 for Arlington.

Orlando received the kickoff and Quinten Dormady took over on the Orlando 37.  On 3rd and 2, Dormady handed to Darrington to move the chains. On 1st down, Dormady was sacked and fumbled. The ball was recovered by Arlington near midfield.

Luis Perez passed to Tyler Vaughns for a 27-yard gain on the Orlando 18. The Renegades offense could do no more and settled for a Taylor Russolino 31-yard field goal to make the score 12-3 for Arlington.

Dormady began a drive on the Orlando 27. A 10-yard pass to Eli Rogers followed by a 23-yard pass, again to Rogers, moved the ball downfield. The drive stalled just past midfield and Orlando was forced to punt.

Arlington couldn’t fare much better, with Luis Perez establishing a 6-play drive for 11-yards, leading to a punt.

With 3:33 on the clock, Dormady started an Orlando drive on their own 31-yard line. A 20-yard pass to Latimer moved the chains, and then a 12-yard pass to Rogers moved the chains again. Dormady found a rhythm with a 15-yard pass to Rogers to the Arlington 17. Arlington penalties first gave Orlando 1st and goal on the 4-yard line, and then a holding penalty put the ball on the 2. Dormady rushed 2-yards into the end zone for a Guardians’ major. The 1-point conversion failed, making the score 12-9 for Arlington.

At half-time the score was 12-9 for Arlington.

In the 2nd half, Orlando received the kickoff and Quinten Dormady took over on his own 30-yard line.  He moved the ball well with passes to Latimer and Carter. Arlington’s Will Hill was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct and disqualified from the game. A pass to K.D. Cannon in the end zone went incomplete. On 2nd and 10, Darrington picked up 9 yards on a short pass. On 3rd and 1 Dormady was stuffed. On 4th and 1 Dormady just made it for a 1st down. The play was reviewed and Dean Blandino ruled Dormady was short and Orlando had turned over the ball on downs.

Arlington took over on their own 23-yard line. Perez handed to De’Veon Smith for a 13-yard run. On 3rd and 10, Perez passed 55-yards complete to LuJann Winningham at the Orlando 9-yard line. A penalty pushed Arlington back 15-yards putting the ball on the Orlando 26. Then, an offensive pass interference call on Vaughns pushed the Renegades back another 10-yards. Perez completed a pass to Becker on the Orlando 18, but he fumbled and the ball was recovered by Orlando’s Murphy.

Dormady took over on the Orlando 18-yard line. He was sacked on 1st down, and a Thomas rush was stuffed for a loss on 2nd down. A 15-yard penalty to Arlington’s Mueller moved the sticks for Orlando. A 13-yard pass to Charleston Rambo was good for another first down, but Dormady was intercepted by Powell who returned the ball 40-yards to the Orlando 22.

Luis Perez connected a 16-yard pass to Hall on the Orlando 7-yard line. Smith kept rushing for small gains, and on 3rd and goal from the 1-yard line De’Veon Smith ran it in for a touchdown. The 1-point conversion attempt failed making the score 18-9 for Arlington.

At the end of the 3rd quarter the score was 18-9 for Arlington.

Dormady started a drive on the Orlando 27. He made one first down before he was intercepted by Taylor who ran the ball downfield until Orlando’s Bryant forced him to fumble which was recovered by Orlando’s Thomas. On a downfield pass to Rambo, Davis was called for pass interference which moved the markers 31-yards to the Arlington 41-yard line. Orlando could go no further and punted the ball to Arlington.

Perez took over on his own 10-yard line. A Brown rush was good for a 15-yard gain, and a long pass down field should have been caught by Brandon Arconado but was dropped. The Renegades were forced to punt.

Dormady started on the Orlando 22. He passed to Rogers for a 9-yard gain and then handed to Martin who ran for 10-yards and a first down. A pass to Martin was good for 19-yards, and then a pass to Rogers went for a 22-yard gain to the Arlington 19. Arlington challenged the play for holding. The play was reviewed and the challenge failed. Dormady passed 19-yards to a wide open Eli Rogers for a touchdown. The 1-point conversion rush by Martin was good making the score 18-16 for Arlington.

Arlington took the kickoff and Perez started on his own 36-yard line. On 3rd and 1, De’Veon Smith ran the ball, but was short of the first down.

After the two minute warning, on 4th and 1, Perez tried to get Orlando to jump offside but they did not bite. Arlington punted, downing the ball on the Orlando 21-yard line.

With 1:48 remaining, Quinten Dormady started a Guardians drive. After an 8-yard pass to Rambo, Dormady was sacked. Flags flew and Arlington’s Mueller was called for a “hands to the face” penalty, giving Orlando a first down on their own 34. On 3rd and 7 Dormady connected to Rogers for an 8-yard gain, and then completed an 11-yard pass to Rogers to put the ball on the Arlington 44.  With 0:41 remaining, Arlington pressured Dormady and forced him to fumble, with the ball recovered by Will Clarke for Arlington.

Arlington ran out the clock to end the game.

The final score was Arlington 18, Orlando 16.
