Brian Goldsmith, a ticket rep for the Arlington Renegades, plans to run the Dallas Marathon in a football uniform. He hopes to succeed in setting a Guinness World Record for running a marathon in a full football uniform.

Goldsmith has prepared an Arlington Renegades uniform for the feat which will take place on Sunday.

“I love putting myself in vulnerable positions,” Goldsmith told the Dallas Morning News. “There is doubt for sure, but if you don’t put yourself out there, you’re not alive.”

The marathon will begin on Sunday December 20 at 8:30 AM. at City Hall Plaza on the corner of Marilla and South Akard, also where the race will finish after weaving its way around the city.

The record Goldsmith is attempting to break was set by Australian Alistair Kealty who in football garb recorded a time of three hours, 33 minutes and 42 seconds at the Standard Charter Dubai Marathon in January 2019.

Goldsmith, a native of Buffalo, N.Y., has an athletic background. He played Division II football for Chapman University and later joined the rugby team at the University at Buffalo. After college, he was a member of his hometown arena football league team.

@go4thegoldyfitness Since I’ll be spending (hopefully) around 3.5 hours on Sunday at the marathon, I figured I’d wear the full getup to the office this week to really get used to it 😜 . Watch me run my way to the Guinness World Record for the fastest football-clad marathon! Can I score a touchdown and break the record? Stay tuned for the epic showdown on Sunday! . Huge shoutout to @brittneygarciadumas , @kentfulkerson and @camkov23 for being a part of the vid! . #OfficeGridiron #footballplayer #footballlife #marathon #marathontraining #xfl #theoffice #athlete #guinnessworldrecord #go4thegoldy ♬ The Champion – Lux-Inspira

Goldsmith has been training by wearing a helmet on runs. In addition, since he’ll be spending around 3.5 hours on Sunday at the marathon, he figured he’d wear the full uniform to the office to get used to it.
