Originally reported by Anthony Miller of Sports Illustrated FanNation, United Football League Vice President of Communications Jeff Altstadter has left the league. While the league itself has not confirmed this fact, press releases from the league no longer carry Altstadter’s name as the league’s Director of Communications.

Altstadter was originally hired as the Vice President of Communications for the XFL on August 1, 2022, in the leadup to their 2023 season. In January 2024, when the USFL and XFL merged. Altstadter retained the position for the newly formed United Football League.

Altstadter led day to day communications operations, aligning the League’s public and media relations strategies with its priorities to drive awareness and build team and player visibility on a national and local level.

At the time of his hiring, XFL President Russ Brandon pointed out how it was Altstadter  who would “play a critical role in integrating the XFL within the eight markets, and cultivating relationships with media and overseeing each of our teams’ communications functions.”

When he came to the XFL, Altstadter brought over 20 years of sports business and public relations experience to the league. Before joining the XFL, Altstadter had been the Director of Publicity for sports betting operator PointsBet USA, overseeing the company’s earned media coverage, public relations and corporate communications. Previous to that, Altstadter worked for the United States Golf Association (USGA) in various public relations positions, working on long-term and event-driven communications strategies. He also served as Senior Director, Communications for the New Jersey Devils, handling media and player relations. Educationally, he was reported to have a Bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University.

It is not clear at this time who will be taking over Altstadter’s role.
