SAN FRANCISCO 21, MEMPHIS 12
SAN FRANCISCO — Mike Pawlawski threw two of his three touchdown passes in the second quarter when the San Francisco Demons scored 15 unanswered points en route to a 21-12 victory over the Memphis Maniax.
Pawlawski completed 26-of-44 passes for 215 yards as San Francisco (4-4) won for just the second time in five games and moved into a tie with Las Vegas for second place in the Western Division.
Pawlawski capped a nine-play, 62-yard drive with a seven-yard touchdown pass to Travis Moore with 7:40 left in the second quarter that tied the score, 6-6. On San Francisco’s next possession, he directed a seven-play 52-yard drive that ended with Brian Robertson’s 12-yard reception to put the Demons ahead for good, 12-6, with 1:45 left before intermission.
Jim Druckenmiller, a former first-round pick of the San Francisco 49ers, was 14-of-30 for 203 yards and two TDs.
But Druckenmiller was intercepted by Terrell Sutton, who had a 12-yard return to the Demons 49. Eighth plays later, Mike Panasuk kicked a 35-yard field as time expired in the first half to give the Demons a 15-6 advantage.
Memphis (3-5) lost for the third time in four games.
