The XFL and USFL are in talks to merge the two spring football leagues.
That bombshell of a report was dropped this morning by Sara Fischer of Axios. She used the term “advanced” to describe how far along the two leagues are in discussions. Among the details Fischer laid out was an expectation that games would air on FOX and Disney channels.
The deal would require regulatory approval and was categorized as “a merger of equals.” The hope is to have everything squared away for a 2024 launch of the merged entity. In fact, a deal could be announced as early as this week, per Fischer’s reporting.
XFL News Hub’s Mike Mitchell noted the official response from the XFL when reached for comment: “We will not comment on rumors and speculation.”
