Seattle Sea Dragons @ Vegas Vipers

Sat Mar 4, 7:00PM ET, FX, ESPN+

On Saturday night we have two 0-2 teams facing each other. The Sea Dragons travel to Las Vegas to take on the Vipers. Both of these teams have yet to get a win, however the Sea Dragons have played better football. The Vipers were run out of their home field last week in a very sloppy football game that turned south once the rain started to flow. In this game we may see some weather issues including some high winds that could change some of the game script.

Last week the Defenders took advantage of the Vipers rush defense, running up and down the field. A lot of this was due to the utilization of the dual QB system by the Defenders. In this game I think June Jones slows the game down and leans on the run more often. Doing so will give Dinucci a break and lessen the chances for turnovers. Dinucci has been a turnover machine and running the ball against this porous Vipers defense should be beneficial.

Overall I think the Sea Dragons are by far the better team. They were competitive in both of their losses where the Vipers really weren’t. I think the Sea Dragons get their first win this weekend and they do it covering the current -3.5 spread.

St. Louis Battlehawks @ DC Defenders

Sun Mar 4, 1:00PM ET, FX, ESPN+

The St. Louis BattleHawks are the talk of the XFL right now, and it’s all thanks to A.J. McCarron. McCarron is the X factor for the BattleHawks, and he gives them the edge they need to cover the spread against the D.C. Defenders. With McCarron leading the charge, the BattleHawks are poised to cover and probably win.

The Defenders have been impressive in their own right, and they have the potential to surprise the BattleHawks in their upcoming matchup. But the BattleHawks have been consistent in their play, which gives them the edge in this game. They also don’t give up, having two come from behind wins.

McCarron’s electric playmaking and leadership gives the BattleHawks the edge they need to cover the spread. This is an NFL caliber QB that shines when the pressure is on and he is tasked at running the 2 min drill.

If you’re looking to make a bet on the BattleHawks vs. Defenders game, you should put your money on the BattleHawks. With McCarron at the helm the BattleHawks are in an excellent position to win and cover the spread. With the right pieces in place, and McCarron’s leadership, the BattleHawks are primed to cover the spread against the D.C. Defenders. Not to mention that it seems like the Battlehawks are destined to win every game!

Orlando Guardians @ Arlington Renegades

Sun Mar 4, 4:00PM ET, FX, ESPN+

There isn’t a ton to say about this game. The Guardians are proving to be the basement of the league. There are issues in the locker room alongside poor coaching. It is like they haven’t practiced at all. They are releasing players and trying to find a way to put out good football.

Unfortunately for them they are playing the Renegades who I think are the most unproven team so far. The Renegades have underperformed so far this season and we have yet to see them hit their stride. When that moment happens, they are going to easily be a top 3 team.

In this game on Sunday, Sloter will be getting his first start for the Renegades and honestly it is about time. I think he should have been starting from day one. The Sloter and Cannella connection will be a hit in this game. Lay the big point spread with the Renegades. I think we fade the Guardians until they give us a reason not to.

San Antonio Brahmas @ Houston Roughnecks

Sun Mar 4, 8:00PM ET, ESPN2, ESPN+

Take the Roughnecks in this one. If it isn’t broken don’t fix it. The Roughnecks have yet to lose in the two combined seasons of the recent XFL. The Brahmas are a pretty strong football team. They are the best of the average teams, but I think they fall short to one of the top tier teams this weekend.

In this game I think that the Roughnecks offense will put up points effortlessly and that the Brahmas will not be able to hang in a shootout type atmosphere. The Roughnecks also will win the coaching matchup here. Wade Phillips is proving to still have it while first time head coach Hines Ward is still working on getting a feel for his command.

The experience in the coaching and the offensive firepower of the Roughnecks will be enough to get it done against San Antonio.
