MEMPHIS, Tenn. (February 15, 2001) – The San Francisco Demons added to their roster at receiver Thursday for a couple of reasons Thursday and said Brian Roberson would be available Saturday night the Demons continue their road trip at Memphis.

The Demons claimed one of the leading receivers in the Canadian Football League the last four seasons and said an MRI on Roberson’s left foot revealed no fracture. However, starting defensive tackle Jomo Cousins was ruled out of the Memphis contest with bruised ribs suffered against Orlando and has returned to San Francisco for treatment.

Travis Moore, an all-Canadian selection with Calgary in 1999, joined the Demons Wednesday and began practicing with the team Thursday. He was initially placed on the practice roster. XFL clubs do not have to declare their 38 active players until 1:00 p.m. PT the day before the game. The Demons will disclose their roster Friday afternoon.

Head Coach Jim Skipper said former San Jose State standout Abdul-Salam Noah would start in place of Cousins against the Maniax and Emile Palmer would be activated as the team’s sixth defensive lineman this weekend.

Roberson was San Francisco’s leading receiver against Los Angeles in the season opener with 12 catches for 127 yards, but he was held out of last Saturday’s game at Orlando with the bruised foot. One of the Demons’ other four receivers will be placed on the practice roster: James Hundon, Calvin Schexnayder, Jimmy Cunningham and Tydus Winans.

To make room for Moore on the 45-man roster, San Francisco waived tailback Derek Brown, who had been on the practice roster the first two weeks of the season. The Demons also waived quarterback Kevin Feterik.

Moore has played regularly in the CFL with the Stampeders since the 1996 season and has caught 324 passes for more than 5,100 yards. He has three seasons of 70 or more receptions to his credit and led the CFL last season with 15 touchdowns and a 20.2-yard average per catch. He was second in the league in receiving yards in 1999 and third last year.

Moore, 30, is a native of Santa Monica, Calif., and played two years (1988-89) at Santa Monica Community College before completing his collegiate career at Ball State. He’s had 17 career games of 100 or more yards receiving in his CFL career.

The Demons’ radio broadcast begins at 4:00 p.m. on 92 KSJO with the pre-game show and the game itself will be carried by KABL-FM (960), beginning at 5:00 o’clock. Jason Ross and Merton Hanks are the announcers for the broadcast.

After facing Memphis, the Demons return to the Bay Area for a three-game homestand against Las Vegas (Feb. 25), Birmingham (Mar. 3) and New York-New Jersey (Mar. 11) at Pacific Bell Park.

Tickets are still available for San Francisco’s final four games and the Demons are selling a four-game ticket package. Tickets can be reserved at 1-866-4-XFL-TIX or at www.sfdemons.com.
