On January 17, 2025, the United Football League announced the signing of two players to the St. Louis Battlehawks: Cole Spencer at guard (G) and Willie Harvey at linebacker (LB).

Cole Spencer – Guard

Cole Spencer began his college football journey at Western Kentucky University, where he quickly became a staple at left tackle. Over five seasons, he started in 44 games, showcasing his reliability and skill. Seeking new challenges, Spencer transferred to Texas Tech for the 2022 season. Unfortunately, his first year with the Red Raiders was marred by injuries; he was sidelined due to knee and back surgeries, leading to a medical redshirt for that season. In 2023, Spencer made a comeback, playing as a super senior. He started in six games at left guard, proving his versatility by transitioning from tackle to guard. Despite missing half the season due to a leg injury, he returned for the Independence Bowl and was praised for his veteran presence along the offensive line.

After his college career, Spencer entered the 2024 NFL Draft but went undrafted. He signed with the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent but was released shortly thereafter. Now with the Battlehawks, Spencer has the opportunity to demonstrate his skills on the offensive line, bringing with him a wealth of experience from his college days, where he was recognized for his blocking prowess and football IQ.

Willie Harvey – Linebacker

Willie Harvey returns to the Battlehawks after an All-UFL season, showcasing his defensive talents with a franchise record of 79 tackles. His re-signing is a significant boost to the Battlehawks’ defense, particularly in the linebacker corps. Harvey’s previous performances have demonstrated his ability to read plays, disrupt offenses, and provide leadership on the field. His experience and on-field accomplishments make him a cornerstone of the defense, expected to continue his role as a tackling machine and a key player in stopping both the run and pass.

The signings of Spencer and Harvey come at a time when the Battlehawks are looking to build on their previous season’s performance and make a deeper run in the playoffs. As the 2025 season approaches, the St. Louis Battlehawks fans have reason to be excited about these strategic acquisitions.
