ARLINGTON, TEXAS – The Arlington Renegades (0-5) remain winless in the UFL as they fell to the San Antonio Brahmas (4-1) on Saturday night, 25-15. The total attendance for the game at Choctaw Stadium in Arlington was 10,283.
The Brahmas struck first in the Texas Showdown matchup with Arlington, as PK Ryan Santoso hit a 43-yard field goal on the game’s opening drive. Following a punt on the Renegades’ first drive, San Antonio TE Alize Mack extended the Brahmas’ lead with a 24-yard touchdown thrown by QB Quinten Dormady with 5:34 remaining in the first. An unsuccessful one-point conversion kept the Brahmas’ lead at 9-0 after one quarter of play.
On their second possession of the game, Arlington’s offense went 33 yards on nine plays to get their first points thanks to a 29-yard field goal by PK Jonathan Garibay, cutting the deficit to 9-3. San Antonio marched right back with a 10 play, 68-yard drive capped off by a one-yard touchdown rush by RB John Lovett. Lovett would cash in on the following one-point conversion to make it 15-3 in favor of the visitors. Later in the quarter, Arlington QB Luis Perez connected with WR JaVonta Payton for a 52-yard touchdown. An unsuccessful two-point conversion made it 15-9 going into halftime.
Arlington started the third quarter with an eight play, 39-yard drive that resulted in a 46-yard field goal from Jonathan Garibay, cutting the deficit to 15-12. After an interception by Renegades CB Ajene Harris on the first Brahmas possession of the second half, Garibay would hit another field goal for Arlington, this time from 33 yards out, making it tied at 15 going into the fourth.
San Antonio would re-take the lead early in the 4th quarter with a two-yard touchdown rush by RB John Lovett, his second of the game. A successful one-point conversion catch by WR Justin Smith put the Brahmas back in front, 22-15. After a turnover of downs by the Renegades offense, San Antonio padded their lead with a 32-yard field goal by Santoso to make it a two-possession game at 25-15.
The Renegades would come up short for the fifth time this season, losing 25-15 to the Brahmas.
