The D.C. Defenders officially added WR Chad Hansen and CB Michael Joseph to their roster on Jan. 25.

Hansen spent his true freshman year at Idaho State as a starter before transferring to Cal, where he had a solid sophomore season and a break-out, first-team All-Pac 12-worthy junior year that prompted him to enter the 2017 NFL Draft. He was selected in the fourth round by the Jets but was released after just one season. Since then, he has played for seven different organizations. He had a notable 101-yard performance with the Texans against the Colts in 2020.

Joseph played college ball at D-III Dubuque and earned the Cliff Harris Award as the Best Small College Defensive Player of the Year. In 2018, he signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent and has stuck with the team since. He has good speed for his 6-1 187lbs frame and plays his position with physicality & toughness.

D.C. also added DT Roderick Henderson, per Mike Mitchell. Interestingly enough, Henderson played under HC Reggie Barlow at Alabama State.

The team also moved WR Jazz Ferguson (hamstring injury) to the Reserve List. He was selected in the fourth round of the Offensive Skill section of the XFL Draft.

The timetable of Ferguson’s injury is unknown.
