On January 17, 2025, the Birmingham Stallions of the UFL announced they had signed middle linebacker Tae Crowder. This move will mark another chapter in Crowder’s professional career.

Dequartavous “Tae” Crowder was born on March 12, 1997, and played college football at the University of Georgia. Initially a running back, Crowder switched to inside linebacker in 2016, showcasing his versatility. Over his college career, he recorded 115 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 5 passes defensed, and 1.5 sacks. His senior year was highlighted by a career-high 12 tackles in a game against South Carolina. Crowder was also a finalist for the Butkus Award, recognizing the top linebacker in college football.

The New York Giants selected Crowder with the 255th and final pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, earning him the nickname “Mr. Irrelevant.” Despite the label, in his rookie year, Crowder quickly made an impact. He scored his first NFL touchdown in Week 6 on a 43-yard fumble recovery against the Washington Football Team, contributing to a 20-19 victory. Despite finishing his rookie season with 46 tackles, a hamstring injury forced him onto injured reserve.

In 2021, Crowder started all 17 games for the Giants, leading the team with 130 tackles. He also recorded 2 interceptions and 1 forced fumble, becoming a key part of the defensive lineup after Blake Martinez’s departure. He followed this up with a 2022 season where he started the first eight games and amassed 43 tackles, 1 sack, and 1 forced fumble, only to be waived by the Giants on December 20, 2022.

After being waived by the Giants, Crowder was re-signed to their practice squad and later signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers to their active roster in late December 2022. The Los Angeles Chargers signed him on August 22, 2023, but waived him during the final roster cuts. On December 26, 2023, Crowder joined the Tennessee Titans’ practice squad.

Across 43 NFL games, Crowder compiled 232 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 interceptions, and 2 forced fumbles.

Crowder comes to the Stallions with a solid pedigree. Look for his experience and skills to lead him to a starting spot on the Stallions 20225 roster.
