The Atlanta Falcons welcomed a new member of the defensive line to the roster on Wednesday morning.
Scott was a member of the SMU Mustangs for five seasons, redshirting as a true freshman. As a redshirt senior, he had 10 sacks, 18 tackles for loss, and three forced fumbles and was named second-team All-American Athletic Conference. Scott finished his collegiate career with 97 tackles, 36 tackles for loss, 18 sacks and five forced fumbles in 40 games played.
Scott spent time with the Packers, Steelers, and Panthers after going undrafted in 2020. He spent some time on the active roster while with the Steelers and played 26 snaps on offense and special teams in three regular season appearances.
The San Antonio Brahmas selected Scott in the fourth round of the 2023 XFL Supplemental Draft on January 1, 2023. In 8 games for the Brahmas, Scott made 36 tackles (18 solo), 11 tackles for a loss, and was credited for 7.5 sacks.
Scott fills the roster spot opened up by putting linebacker Ade Ogundeji on injured reserve. Calais Campbell, Grady Jarrett, and David Onyemata appear set as the top defensive linemen in Atlanta. Third-round pick Zach Harrison, Ta’Quon Graham, and Justin Ellis are among the other candidates for reserve roles.
Scott is the tenth player from the San Antonio roster to be signed and his NFL contract is the 55th signed by XFL players since this offseason began on May 15. To date, 176 invitations have been sent to XFL players for camps or to hold individual workouts with NFL teams since the conclusion of the XFL regular season.
The San Antonio Brahmas will retain Scott’s rights should he return to the XFL.
