The United Football League (UFL) announced on Friday, January 24, 2025, linebacker Frank Ginda had formally signed a contract to rejoin the Michigan Panthers for the 2025 season.
Over several football leagues, Ginda’s career path has been one of tenacity and brilliance. Originally going unnoticed in 2018, Ginda signed with the Arizona Cardinals only to be released later that year. Before succeeding in the Alliance of American Football (AAF), XFL, and finally the United States Football League (USFL), with the Michigan Panthers, his path led him through various NFL teams including the Miami Dolphins and New Orleans Saints.
Leading the USFL Panthers in tackles with 104, Ginda’s 2023 season was nothing less than outstanding; he also added a sack to his count and secured three interceptions. Along with earning the USFL Defensive Player of the Year, this effort confirmed his standing as one of spring football’s top linebacker. Being named a team captain for both seasons he spent with the Panthers confirmed his leadership on the field.
Ginda returned to the Panthers for their 2024 season following a short stint with the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons, when he participated on the practice squad. Ginda has lately returned to the Panthers after signing with the Los Angeles Chargers for a brief training camp stay in August 2024.
The Michigan Panthers are ready for a great defensive performance in the next season now Ginda is back in the fold.
So happy to have Frank Ginda back. A couple of years ago he went from a great tackler, to a guy who literally reads and blows up plays before they can gain traction. Truly a guy that shows what real players can do outside of all the hype. Between the injuries and the increased popularity of the league when it comes to talent, it will be great to see how Frank deals with the increased talent. It is always the game within, the game the real story to see how players that we are fans of do against the new talent pool. Next year provides the opportunity of 10 teams with which to see our favorite players play for. Wishing Frank has a great season for the Panthers.
Additionally, on the transactions page I saw that Trey Quinn retired. I hope this is on his terms. Personally, I think there is room for him in the UFL and I believe that there will still be some next year. Personally, I feel he may just be the most well rounded receiver in the UFL, with the ability to block downfield, always get to the ball in case of a fumble, has great route running, good speed, great hands, high football intelligence and always comes to the aid of a QB in trouble. All this and he does it in the playoffs too. I hope you enjoy your next life. i remember you from the NFL and you did yourself proud in the legacy UFL. You will be missed.
