Two former University of Houston Cougars are now Guardians of the XFL. Both have spent time in the NFL. LB #45 D’Juan Hines & NT Joey Mbu make the 52 man roster of the New York Guardians in the XFL.
Mbu was signed by the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent in 2015. He also spent time with the Washington Redskins, Indianapolis Colts, Green Bay Packers, and the Miami Dolphins. Mbu also was a member of the now defunct San Antonio Commanders in the AAF. While with the Commanders Mbu contributed to the defensive line.
Hines was signed by the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2018. Hines was signed off the Chargers’ practice squad by the Cleveland Brown to their active roster on September 22. He made his NFL debut on September 30, 2018 against the Oakland Raiders. Hines played in 13 games during his rookie season and contributed on Special Teams. To date, Hines has 4 tackles in the NFL. Look out for both this season.
The Guardians will host the Tampa Bay Vipers on Sunday, February 9 at 2 P.M. ET. on FOX.
