SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (February 1, 2001) – The San Francisco Demons, the XFL leader in ticket sales since shortly after Halloween, have declared a sellout of their 2001 season opener Sunday against the Los Angeles Xtreme at Pacific Bell Park.
“We are grateful to the football fans of the Bay Area for making this happen for us,” said Michael Preacher, vice-president and general manager of the Demons. “This is a feather in the cap of Pacific Bell Park and Giants Enterprises with whom we formed a partnership for this endeavor.
“The show Sunday afternoon at Pac Bell will be outstanding and it’s obvious there were many fans who wanted to experience it,” San Francisco’s top administrator added.
The capacity for football at Pacific Bell Park has been established at 38,000 spectators, including a temporary pavilion constructed in the area that’s right field for baseball. It seats 2,000 fans. Several of the seats in the outfield and a portion of the upper level in left field for Giants’ games have obstructed view for Demons’ contests and are not being sold.
The parking areas around Pacific Bell Park will begin accommodating fans 2½ hours prior to kickoff, or 10:30 a.m. Sunday, and the gate will open three minutes later at 11:00 o’clock this week.
Tickets remain available for San Francisco’s other four home games at Pacific Bell Park and the Demons are offering a four-game package of season tickets accordingly. Fans will be able to obtain the same seats for the contests with Las Vegas (Feb. 25), Birmingham (Mar. 3), New York/New Jersey (Mar. 11) and Memphis (Mar. 24).
