The UFL trying to play up a rivalry between these two players who met in the XFL championship. Good job on that. I wonder why they held off signing until the last days before training camp?

I'm thinking it was more the UFL held off on announcing their signing until just before camp. Remember, Ta'amu was reported to be returning about two weeks ago.

I think the flurry of  QB signings lately may have been due to some UFL concessions.  The contracts for the XFL were better than the UFL and I'm betting they sweetened the pot a bit to get the upper crust QB's to sign on.   Good thing is that with 8 teams every team should have a shot now.  I'd say last season the bottom third of both leagues were dead on arrival due to lack of good QB.

Unlike San Antonio keeping Kurt Benkert up until a few weeks ago, these two moves make sense.

I think that McCarron interview he did about QB pay may have shifted the needle a bit in the league office.

I'm sure you're right.

Remember, Perez and Ta'amu were both in the USFL in '22 (really, they didn't have much choice other than FCF) but both jumped to the XFL in '23 for what we have to assume was better QB pay. The QBs are who the fans recognize and investing in that position—unless you're going to invest in an end-of-career former NFL star position player like the old UFL (and the early iterations of The Spring League) did—is what draws the eyeballs. I mean, even the NFL does this with its QBs.

This is Perez's sixth season in spring football, Ta'amu's fourth. They're the first generation of talent that has built their name in spring ball, and having a slightly bigger name guy like McCarron putting his weight on the UFL and UFLPA helped their causes—and the league's, even if it means taking a slightly bigger financial hit (but it's not like this league is ready to turn a profit yet anyway)—immensely.

As the saying goes, a rising tide lifts all boats.

Or the UFL QBs realized there's only one option now.  Its 2022 all over again.  Likely a bit of both.  But I doubt UFL paying more or even same as XFL 2023    Have said i'm sure its decent money.

Moose Johnston claims QBs are paid the same as other players.
Some spring leagues have paid quarterbacks above-scale salaries to attract bigger names, but as of last month, Johnston said the UFL had opted against that approach.UFL players receive $5,500 per game week in accordance with their partnership with the United Football Players Association, a union the UFL has recognized and negotiated with."Our quarterbacks are paid the same as everybody else," Johnston said. "The approach is to be fiscally responsible there. We've gotten some pushback from some of them, which is understandable, because they can say everybody knows how valuable this position is and how it should command a higher salary."We're a start-up league trying to get our feet underneath us to be successful here and for a number of years moving forward. There's a good argument for both sides. How do we manage this situation in a way that is positive and good for both sides of the equation? ... It's hard to thread that needle."

I wonder if that has changed. You might think Seifert would know if it had changed, but if Johnston had been overruled the league might not rush out to send a statement to Seifert.
