XFL Player Salaries

Post by Loogan »

I wonder what kind of salaries players can expect? Will it be a standard salary for all players like in the first XFL?

My guess is most players are making the league minimum. Some major names, quarterbacks, receivers, and running backs making more.

Agree. I think the league minimum should be around 50k a year. Mid-Tier guys should get a few hundred thousand a year. Then big name players like Tim Tebow or Johnny Manziel would get millions. That's just my thoughts though.

I wouldn't want to see that drastic of a difference in pay. I'd say the basic roster spot for a non-kicker to be about $60,000-$80,000 a year. Stars will make somewhere in the $150,000-$250,000 a year. MAYBE if you can bring in a marketable name you can go above and beyond and tie to to ticket sales/ratings/etc (profit sharing, essentially).

Base salary plus performance incentives? Paid more when they win?

I think there will be a range and bonus will still be given for winning. I think most salaries should be at or just above Canadian levels so you can really draw in the top Canadian league players as well as the 2nd and third string type NFL players. i would expect very limited 1st string NFL guys coming here unless blacklisted.
