A bit too near the NFL name but good enough.
I am more interested in seeing what teams make the cut. The name is whatever. It is not like the XFL is a crowning jewel moniker.
XFL is innovation. X factors. The old 2001 XFL was "xtreme," attitude, in-your-face... but 2020s XFL is new, Xciting, Xperimental.
USFL is heritage. Patriotism. 'Murica. A perfect fit for the more conservative-leaning Fox Corporation and its southern and midwestern teams. Ironically, the same places where the 2020s XFL thrived (so it certainly makes sense that the merger is happening now).
NSFL is... well... it does kind of evoke NFL, that pinnacle of professional sport. But other than that, not a huge identity.
