Isn't Moose Johnston involved? He was pretty adamantly anti-Manziel with the Commanders. But Woods also has first hand experience.

Re: Official USFL coaches
I'm sure Woods would consider it given past history (TSL), but the bottom line will be if there's anything there.
There's a reason why Woods did the whole "last contract" deal, not only was the FXFL a mixed bag (Tim Hightower/Josh Freeman), but anyone who remembers Simeon Rice threatening quarterbacks lives ahead of the UFL and then having one sack in six games for the Sentinels knows this is why.
BTW on a semi-related note heres an article from that nutsack Florio from Freeman's debut in 2015, you know he's supposedly an advocate for alt leagues playing during the NFL in non game nights yet he totally trashes the league, players, and Freeman (who would wind up back with the Colts for the season finale) here like no one would remember.
So if you're looking for Florio to promote the league (even if his employer is in business with it), don't waste your time.

Keep in mind the League is creating the draft pool first (sure there could be some coach lobbying), and the avail players need to sign contracts prior to being avail to be selected on Feb 22-23.

Re: Official USFL coaches
I remember there was some heat towards Moose for that because of the fact he was teammates with Michael Irvin for a decade in Dallas and he did worse things than Manziel. Moose has always said that Michael Irvin was one of the hardest working teammates he's ever had and Manziel never worked hard at all, so Moose likely saw that as the reason he didn't sign Manziel.

Oh, the aforementioned Florio hit piece on Freeman/FXFL (some advocate) from 2015, but we're supposed to believe he supports leagues that play in the fall on nights the NFL doesn't

I would say there’s a chance nbc tells him to cover it or something like that. My hope is really just that cowherd covers it throughout the seasonMGB01 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 07, 2022 5:52 pm Oh, the aforementioned Florio hit piece on Freeman/FXFL (some advocate) from 2015, but we're supposed to believe he supports leagues that play in the fall on nights the NFL doesn't

NBC is televising game, Mike Florio is on the NBC payroll. You can bet he'll be posting USFL stuff to pump it especially during NFL off season.

And NBC(SN) had the CFL in 2012-13, don't remember much of anything. In fact the most he's ever promoted an alt league was when he took his kid to an Arena game in 2011 (keyword between 'when' and 'took').
