Very funny. Maybe the entire family of Rebecca Lobo can run and play on that team.Tank55 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2019 10:06 pmI think it would be a great name for a WNBA team.Dynamofan1 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2019 7:31 pm I am curious what you guys think of the name Los Angeles Lobos?
Not to get sidetracked here but a funny story of Rebecca Lobo’s husband, Steve Rushin, The Sports Illustrated writer. Lobo and him met, when she confronted him about his negative comments about women’s basketball. Rushin had one of the all time great lines.
although Wilt Chamberlain claimed to have slept with 20,000 women in his lifetime, I had once slept with 7,138 women in a single night: We were all snoring in the stands at a WNBA game.

I live in Dallas and the media coverage of the WNBA's Dallas Wings have been non-existent, and so has the support of the Cowboys, Rangers, Mavericks, Stars and FC DallasTank55 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2019 10:06 pmI think it would be a great name for a WNBA team.Dynamofan1 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2019 7:31 pm I am curious what you guys think of the name Los Angeles Lobos?

I am not disrespecting those other sports but football is king. If XFL Dallas puts out a great product. I think that there is some serious room for growth.GDAWG wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2019 11:42 pmI live in Dallas and the media coverage of the WNBA's Dallas Wings have been non-existent, and so has the support of the Cowboys, Rangers, Mavericks, Stars and FC DallasTank55 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2019 10:06 pmI think it would be a great name for a WNBA team.Dynamofan1 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2019 7:31 pm I am curious what you guys think of the name Los Angeles Lobos?
The location for the venue is great. The stadium size is ideal. The team is going to be well run. It may take time but Dallas has great potential.

Rangers, Mavericks and Stars get a strong amount of support. In 2010, things were so bad for the Cowboys, that during the Monday Night Football Game hosting the Giants, there was a loud "Let's Go Rangers" chant as the Rangers were making their World Series run. In June 2011, the Cowboys were not the main sports story at that time (sure it was the offseason, but they had a minicamp), The Mavericks were as they won the NBA Finals. If the Cowboys this season start off very slowly or horribly and the Rangers make another run, more people are going to cheer for the Rangers than Cowboys.MikeMitchell wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 11:59 amI am not disrespecting those other sports but football is king. So it's not like the Rangers, Mavericks and Stars don't get the support from the DFW sports community, because they do. The Mavericks, especially because of Dirk Nowitzki. For 21 years, when people think "Dallas Mavericks" it was either him or Mark Cuban but mostly Dirk. Dirk made Dallas an NBA town as well as an NFL town. He's as big of an icon in DFW as any Cowboys legends. He's a bigger icon here than Tony Romo because he won a championship and Romo never came close. He arrived in Dallas at the right time too, as Troy Aikman and Michael Irvin were near the end of their careers and Dallas needed another superstar, although not many knew it was going to be Dirk or it was going to come from the Mavericks.

But Dirk, of course, is retired now... and the Mavs just finished last year near the bottom of the standings. If there's a weakness in the Dallas sports market, that is likely it. The Stars, they have the Winter Classic this year so there'll be a lot of buzz surrounding them.GDAWG wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 12:20 pm Rangers, Mavericks and Stars get a strong amount of support. The thing about the Cowboys is that they really have more of a following outside Dallas than they do within it. They're a TV team. That's not to say Dallas doesn't have football fans, though. When that indoor team that used to be the Allen Wranglers signed Terrell Owens, they were able to draw several thousand fans a game in a league that normally draws a few hundred. That tells me that with a recognizable, and good, product, the XFL Dallas team has a lot of potential to be the class of the league.

A reason these names are blah is because NHL Seattle took all of the good names.

I think "Lobos" is a name that can work in L.A.
It rolls off the tongue well......I think it connects. It's not an overused name at least among professional leagues. It can bring an attractive logo design. But when I see that name of course I think New Mexico......but that's college and there's about 20 or so other colleges that use it so it isn't really a new idea......but I like it.

Still on the subject of L.A.......... this is the one market where I strongly feel they could retain one 2001 team.......it has a following. It wouldn't be too much of a reminder of the old league since we're two decades removed......and I like that logo......it was the best one.
