I'm listening through the full interview right now. I can't think that was the deal-breaker given that it started in 2023 and he had a chance to walk away after that and didn't.

Exactly - besides he stayed another yr after XFL so that aint it.
Could he end up in Birm? Certainly would be a draw there where UFL needs him.

Re: Battlehawks releasing McCarron
OK. Here's what I've picked up so far, stream of consciousness:
McCarron knew that his days with the Battlehawks were numbered by the end of the 2024 season just because of the changing environment with the coaches. He had multiple UFL coaches reach out to him, telling him there was interest in a trade, and that he refused to be traded so that he could determine where he'd sign. McCarron tried to get ahold of Becht but got brushed off; the next time he heard from Becht was the message that he'd been released. They discussed the trade thing. McCarron says he's not done playing. He says he was as healthy as he ever was before the injury, later comments that the surgery was a success. Apparently Becht and the Battlehawks GM tried to pull a reserve-clause after McCarron's contract expired saying the Battlehawks would hold McCarron's rights forever if he wanted to sign with the UFL and accused the other UFL coach of tampering. McCarron insists he's a free agent and didn't want to agree to a trade because it would mean the new team he'd be with would lose assets. Says that his playing through the injury at the end of the season was because Becht prodded him to; he had planned to end his season early. He says he was upset with the team for not letting him make a statement "with the team" as he was originally promised, stating that Becht made a "s**tty" move. Says Becht controls the Battlehawks PR/social media. Clearly no love lost between Becht and McCarron over this situation; he admits restraining himself for his wife's sake.
So now he's talking with other teams, says he wants to stay in the UFL, preferably with an XFL conference team so he can face the Battlehawks twice. Has nothing against the city of St. Louis, calling it one of the top three places he played, comparable to Alabama. (He didn't say what the other team.) He says he would be interested in returning to Alabama with the Stallions but hasn't contacted Holtz yet.

McCarron has made it clear that he wants to return to the UFL next season, and would want to face the Battlehawks twice, he said on the McCready and Siskey Podcast“I wanna come back with a vengeance and I wanna face them (St. Louis) twice. I wanna go to somebody that faces them twice a year, and put it on em. We’ll see if there ends up being a fit and ends up working out, but I just felt like it wasn’t done the right way, and that’s part of business. Hell, you can’t ask for everything. There’s gonna be things. That’s part of life. But I just felt like I was due a little more respect with how it went down than what I was shown, but it’s apart of business. Can’t cry about it and I don’t want be in my feelings.” <

Well… at least it’s obvious players value that UFL championship.
I think XFL conference is done for him. All the XFL teams have their solution at QB, ARL with Scott, SA with Brahmas, and DC with Ta’amu. I think he’s gonna have to pick whatever he can get

He was an Alabama QB winning the championship... He's made for Birmingham. It could be a win-win-win scenario.

That's if Ta'amu comes back, which I'm not sure is a given. I also haven't seen enough of Scott to be convinced he's the answer in Arlington if Perez doesn't come back.

McCarron wants to play in UFL
>>United Football Media@The_UFM "I wanna come back with a vengeance and I wanna face them twice.... I wanna put it on em" Recently released St Louis Battlehawks QB AJ McCarron joined @McCreadySiskey today and made it clear he wants to play in the #UFL still, especially if it means he can face his former team twice a year <<
The twice a year thing is misdirection IMO and hype. A little drama in the UFL? Yell yeah!

Probably Bengals, since just about everybody did (although maybe not James Harrison). Plus he started for Dalton at the end of the 2015 season and was Jeremy Hill's butterfingers away from winning a playoff game.
