I think there's a real chance that, while Bates would seem to be the clubhouse favorite with Badgley out, either McCrane or Szmyt could steal the job. Bates got a lot of ink for the league, yes, but his finish was rather Blair Walsh-esque while Szmyt was better and McCrane (dummy Florio seems to think he didn't kick after 2018) has a longer resume--and also has the advantage of not having kicked half his games indoors.

Also one day afterwards (Lions also had Storey Jackson in for a tryout) Bates misses three--one from 46, so this may be revisited.

Don't be surprised if we see Adrian Martinez get playing time.  We don't know how long Rodgers can stay healthy and Adrian is already a gifted talent who can grow even more in this situation.

He'll get plenty of preseason reps no doubt--no Rodgers, 35 y/o Tyrod Taylor, Jordan Travis on the mend, leaving Martinez and undrafted Andrew Peasley. Where it goes after that is anyone's guess, probably like Ricky Ray as the Jets QB3 in 2004

I think that's very likely.   Can he make #3 spot on roster or a PS position? Remains to be seen.  He's got the mobility factor that may help on 3rd downs etc.  We'll see how they use him in preseason soon enough.  It can't hurt to be getting more practice and play time in NFL camp at the least.

UFL to NFL hits 77

Many may not be on the active roster come NFL game 1 or even the PS, but as the season drags and NFL injuries mount expect those players to be called back..

Others wil be on the PS or active roster...

All this raises the credibility of the UFL talent on the field in the spring.  It also makes players and agents more open to playing in the UFL, alot more.

GREAT JOB UFL!

Yes so may say "its just a farm system" - but not really.  Its independent, the players are simply and individually looking for more $$$.  That's natural.

Looking more forward to the CFB season than NFL this fall, we'll see if that holds all season.

A real sign of progress would be if the league improves on its track record of 2023, when the 16 combined XFL and USFL teams sent only three players to NFL regular season rosters Week 1—two from the USFL, one from the XFL. You'd hope to see at least three players actually stick to a week 1 roster this year.
