If the Showboats do not return in 2025, that means that Fred Smith is no longer interested.

Keep in mind, Fred is almost 80 years old. If he truly believes in this it might be something he's building as an inheritance to his son Arthur (yes, the same former Falcons head coach Arthur Smith).

Seems unlikely as long as Arthur Smith plans on continuing his coaching career, which he will be as the new Offensive Coordinator for the Steelers.

Smith is also a Memphis booster. He wants the city to do better. The city will never get an NFL/MLB team - they'd be wise to work with the league to do what they can to keep the Showboats!
