I don't expect the Renegades to go into camp with 7 QBs, 4 to 5 at the most: Perez, Degenhardt, Scott and Ahlers but with Blumrick being used as a Taysom Hill type.johnnyangryfuzzball wrote: ↑Fri Jan 05, 2024 4:30 pmI would assume the 42 protected players would include draftees. Otherwise, it'd be kind of silly to go through this process of selecting a player only to lose it to a team in another conference.GregParks wrote: ↑Fri Jan 05, 2024 3:32 pmIt would help if they released the list of the 42 protected players. That would give us the answer.GDAWG wrote: ↑Fri Jan 05, 2024 3:30 pm
This is the 7th QB that they have now. Something has to give here. Connor Blumrick can also play TE so his versatility is enough to keep him on the roster, so that reduces the number to 6. Kevin Anderson and Kelly Bryant might not be back in 2024 and if they are not back, that number is down to 4. The Renegades do not need 7 QBs headed into camp, 4 is more than enough. We will know soon what happens to Anderson and Bryant.
It's looking like the Roughnecks were pretty shrewd when they cut a good chunk of their roster before the merger. It'll be far easier for the new Roughnecks to pick them up and let them stay on the team that way.
As for 7 QBs on one team, remember, this is the process of consolidating 16 teams into 8. Rosters are, at least for a brief period, going to look absurdly huge.

Re: Dispersal draft
I think the excuse that the Renegades have the first pick due to a trade earlier in the season (lol) is so bogus it’s unbelievable. League trying to prop up a team that didn’t realistically deserve to be in that championship game.
I am salty though cause the Brahmas should have drafted Scott. Graduate of a college in San Antonio and an Incarnate Word legend. Talk about being unable to appeal to your home market lmao

I can't even find a trade that Arlington and San Antonio made with one another let alone one that involved a draft pick. This is starting to feel like the 1974 NHL Draft.
Has anyone drafted Taro Tsujimoto yet?

Re: Dispersal draft
I asked Mike Mitchell for clarification. He said the trade happened during the College Draft in June and the pick Arlington traded for - and that was used here - was supposed to apply to the November XFL Draft that was tentatively scheduled before the merger took place and the draft was scrapped.Coffeeeyes wrote: ↑Fri Jan 05, 2024 9:26 pmThat’s why I said lol.
