Kind of weird though as Rock was never in the military.

Think he lived near some bases though when he was growing up, especially when his dad wrestled for Eddie Graham in Tampa back in the late 70s (CWF's arena was an old armory)

Plus I don't remember if he ever was part of Tribute To The Troops, so there's that.

It was a PR visit, with the photogs and all, but to what end?

Clearly, Dany and Dwayne are still talking about the XFL. They are on the XFL bandwagon. The rumors of them leaving the league and scrubbing their social media are now in the past. Was there ever any truth to this, or was it just an overreaction by some?

Last Wednesday it was The Pentagon, the US Capitol, and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, to have a dialogue with our veterans, military leaders, and Senators about the Army’s recruitment strategies. A transparent conversation about priorities.- enhancing the lives of their enlistees, active military, and veterans. One message resounded at the highest level, the commitment to lean in.

Thank you to Chief of Staff of the Army, General Randy George, and General Deborah Kotulich and all the individuals who welcomed us at The Pentagon. Thank you as as well to the distinguished bipartisan group of Senators and their staffs who graciously hosted us. To the wounded warriors and incredible staff of Walter Reed, the courage, will and kindness you shared with us was a powerful gift.

To Papa, my grandfather in heaven, a proud WWII Navy veteran, I felt you watching over me with love and pride as I walked those hall and passionately engaged on behalf of those who make the greatest commitment to serve our country and its citizens now and in the future.

Looks a lot like PR. Did they say they talked about the XFL? Maybe they did, but wasn't it just small talk.

They were lheir talking military recruitment and sports, that's what the stated purpose of the meeting was about. Also the Ds are looking to recruit Rock.

Senators are not part of the executive and to get involved in compliance in a merger is not the same as funding military recruitment. Funding does come from congress.

So talk about XFL and mil recruitment - v possible. Talk about the merger... highly unlikely.

The picture taken had both USFL and XFL owners involved. So there must be a reason they were all there, I don't think the senators were courting Gerry Cardinale for help with recruiting

Military and sports was the focus on the meeting right? Its $$$ for the league perhaps big money, so they could be there soliciting government ad $$.

Perhaps I'm wrong but first I don't believe the Gov is holding up the merger anyway ( 2 small newbie leagues that have a history of folding??) other than typical gov foot dragging and incompetence. Second if there was someway the Senate could bypass the DOJ we're all in trouble.

Perhaps some senators where lobbying to get a team in their state and dangling military money? That I could see.

What this pic tells me is the Merger is ON

Otherwise this was the story line last week:

https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/dwa ... 59097.html

>> Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson met with several senators at the U.S. Capitol and with service members at the Pentagon this week to talk about boosting military recruitment.

The Capitol Hill meeting was organized by Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont., and held in Sen. Dick Durbin’s, D-Ill., office. Senators who attended the meeting included Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., Susan Collins, R-Maine, Tammy Duckworth, D-Ill., and Todd Young, R-Ind. He also met with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., according to WRC-TV.

"Some of the best times in my life were spent serving in the military. It's a great career that leads to a lot of opportunities even beyond the military," Kelly told the Washington Examiner. Kelly is a former astronaut and Navy combat pilot.

He added, "So, what we were discussing is how do you tell stories that get people more interested, and he's a guy that can do that." <<
