Breaking: NSFL (National Spring Football League) has been trademarked

Solid and professional sounding.

A bit too near the NFL name but good enough.

I am more interested in seeing what teams make the cut. The name is whatever. It is not like the XFL is a crowning jewel moniker.

Well, each one brings its own image.

XFL is innovation. X factors. The old 2001 XFL was "xtreme," attitude, in-your-face... but 2020s XFL is new, Xciting, Xperimental.

USFL is heritage. Patriotism. 'Murica. A perfect fit for the more conservative-leaning Fox Corporation and its southern and midwestern teams. Ironically, the same places where the 2020s XFL thrived (so it certainly makes sense that the merger is happening now).

NSFL is... well... it does kind of evoke NFL, that pinnacle of professional sport. But other than that, not a huge identity.

Not a huge fan of the name, if they had to change it at all. I would have preferred something with only three letters in the acronym, like The Spring League or United Football League.

But I imagine they want to set themselves up to be a successful feeder program into the NFL. Someone could easily fat-finger and land on the NSFL website instead of the NFL one!

Yes, I would have kept the XFL name because it does have name-recognition. Also at least three times as many followers than the USFL on all social media.

I think those that remember the 09-12 league remember good football and talent but a bad (or a risky and unsuccessful at least) business model.

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the 2010 season despite the league only being five teams. For a little bit it looked like the league had found diamonds in the rough with Omaha, Sacramento, and later Virginia Beach. Even Hartford was starting to come around for the Colonials even after they inherited the only winless team from 2009.

I wish Omaha would be seriously considered by one of these leagues, especially if they're looking to sell more tickets. Omaha Vipers rolls off the tongue better than the Vegas Vipers.
