I like the news of the signings. I like it a lot. But the league needs to realize that with every 2023 player that goes to an NFL team, or ends up staying on an NFL practice roster, that is one more player that XFL fans will not see in 2024. Popular sports teams have core players that the fans recognize from season to season, re-upping their season tickets because they know the players, have learned to devote their fandom toward them, and want to see them win the championship.
Fans can be excited for a player getting a chance with the big league, but they really can't step up and cheer for their favorite players leaving the team.
Every sports team does have player turnover from season to season. It's the nature of the beast and the XFL really can avoid it. But the XFL has taken to celebrating this fact. Maybe give the fans something to cheer for?
They need to remember to market these teams in their markets and beat the drum hard in each market for 2024. Get the fans excited now and get seasons tickets sold.

For better or worse, ownership has sold the league publicly as a place where they'll help try to get players back in the NFL; it would be strange, then, if they DIDN'T acknowledge players getting signed by the NFL.
And while some fans may not care about this - or may actively be against missing their team's favorite/best players - at least an ancillary benefit of it is in attracting players for the future. You have to imagine this is a great recruiting tool for the league to say to free agents, "hey, you want to get back to the NFL? Look at what we've done in terms of the numbers." There are going to be players on the fence about joining a league like the XFL, or choosing between the USFL and XFL. If the XFL can publicly tout its successes in moving players up to the NFL, they may feel it's a good recruiting tool to do so.

What else should they be talking about at the moment? It's free content for the social media teams to take advantage of and keep the league's existence at the forefront of fans' minds.BattleHawks wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2023 12:09 am why do they think this stupid stuff means anything, to anyone?

No one is saying don't acknowledge players moving to NFL, that's certainly one measure of the talent in the league. Also helps recruiting. That's not what people are saying on here.
Selling the league to fans using Its player 54 marketing, especially pre and during season - ie the reason to watch is because they are sub-par NFL players, is not enticing. Better to talk about the where the player came from and how good they are and what they've done on the field. How great the games are because of the great play and how fun the action to watch at or or on TV. Instead its "come watch us because some of our guys will play in the NFL". Like its a farm system. L Perez didn't get signed by NFL but won championship, is he not good? Will him coming back to XFL help the league? Likely.

If you don't like it don't pay any attention to it. But how dare either use this to their advantage.

People forget also that the XFL is insinuating is that the league talent is good enough to be picked up by the NFL.GregParks wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2023 9:07 pm For better or worse, ownership has sold the league publicly as a place where they'll help try to get players back in the NFL; it would be strange, then, if they DIDN'T acknowledge players getting signed by the NFL.

Re: The Rock marks the 54th player to be signed by the NFL
It means something to the fans of specific players and the league in general. The league gets great clout from its players being worthy enough of playing in the NFL. PJ Walker and Taylor Heinicke are always mentioned as former XFL QB's whenever they are brought up and that is what the XFL is aiming for.BattleHawks wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2023 12:09 am why do they think this stupid stuff means anything, to anyone?

In terms of selling tickets, this may not matter but you gotta remember, the XFL is a sports league and sports leagues want to be active year around, even in the offseason. This is a part of the XFL offseason, the turnaround of talent to NFL rosters.
What else are they gonna talk about man, this is basically FA for XFL, let it exist
