Re: MLFB cancels its plans for 2023
I understand that Murtha has a dream, and he desperately wants this to go forward. Money is the key and someone has to have the deep pockets to make any league kick off successfully.

There are two Major League Football, this one and another one that has pushed back their season to the fall of 2024. The second one had been scheduled to play on September 10th, the same day as the official start of the 2023 NFL Season, but they had nothing in place to indicate that they were going to make that date: no stadiums, no team names, no team colors, no front office personnel, no broadcasting agreements, no coaches and most importantly, no players.

Sorry if I am confused. This is the Frank Murtha league. The one that had the training camp and had to send everyone home.GDAWG wrote: ↑Wed Aug 09, 2023 12:20 pm There are two Major League Football, this one and another one that has pushed back their season to the fall of 2024. I know about the Frank Murtha league, I am saying that there are two leagues with the name "Major League Football" meaning someone wasn't smart enough to trademark the name to prevent the other from taking it.MarkNelson wrote: ↑Wed Aug 09, 2023 12:25 pmSorry if I am confused. My guess is that Murtha wants to own a league, rather than be a subordinate, which means no USFL or XFL for him.

Which league said on their website all their teams would be playing at imaginary Memorial stadiums?GDAWG wrote: ↑Wed Aug 09, 2023 12:31 pmI know about the Frank Murtha league, I am saying that there are two leagues with the name "Major League Football" meaning someone wasn't smart enough to trademark the name to prevent the other from taking it.MarkNelson wrote: ↑Wed Aug 09, 2023 12:25 pmSorry if I am confused. This is shocking.
They were only three years away from being three years away from being three years away.

The two "majors" are actually easily separated, by the fact that one at least has the self-awareness to have a B on the end of it and the other has a section on their site headlined "Inside MLF"

Well, that's on the Hambrecht-Pelosi-Mayer triumvirate that never bothered to hold onto the trademarks. (Heck, there was a slim possibility that XFL2.0 might have been the UFL since Vince McMahon snatched up the UFL name even before McClendon, as many may recall.)GDAWG wrote: ↑Wed Aug 09, 2023 3:29 pmThe UFL, another scam league who believes that they are a continuation of the league from 2009-2012Lone Star wrote: ↑Wed Aug 09, 2023 2:57 pmWhich league said on their website all their teams would be playing at imaginary Memorial stadiums?GDAWG wrote: ↑Wed Aug 09, 2023 12:31 pm

Ironically, I think that triumvirate still owns the UFL's equipment, though it's been seven years since we last heard what was up with it.
