As I said these are regional Raycom games (which apparently were still a thing in 2022 that they were in 1995). They held out Cincy/Pitt, easily their most attractive game as it's now B12/ACC, presumedly for this reason. The game the next week however is likely going to be VMI/NC State with the first three weeks set. They may shuffle around some games in later weeks, but it's still rarely going to be anything higher than overflow that ends up on ESPN+--in other words, don't expect to see Notre Dame/Duke, which was on ACC Network in 2019, there.
For the Pac it's good because somebody else broke the waters first, although I still wouldn't make it anything more than a replacement for the Pac 12 Network games that nobody watches now and phase them back more into the non-revs that Larry Scott was so proud of (yet he still insisted football and basketball carry the network )

Re: PAC-12 status and media rights deal
Sportico rightly points out that PAC-12 lost 35% of its viewing audience home market households when USC/UCLA bolted for B1G-10. Losing AZ or Colorado would further devastate the conference.
Add to that Disney's walking away from big contracts, linear TV (talk for now) and cut backs. Plus Fox's huge legal settlement and FoxNews drop (Carlson departure) and CBS/NBC seemingly disinterested and its one hell of a tough time for Pac-12.
Good read ....

>> With the Trojans and Bruins bound for the Big Ten, the Pac-12 will surrender 35% of its TV footprint, or 5.84 million households. And while the conference still enjoys privileges in major markets such as San Francisco, Phoenix, Seattle and Denver—together, the four DMAs will account for 78% of all Pac-12 TV homes once the SoCal schools skip town—any further poaching would result in an existential crisis of the highest order.
In the absence of even the broad outlines of a media deal, talk of a Hail Mary expansion bid seems dubious at best, although people who know things believe that San Diego State and SMU eventually will make their way into the Pac-12 fold. <<
Market size matters - for Pac-12 or spring FB's USFL and XFL.

PAC-12 media day - status blow
https://www.cbssports.com/college-footb ... -concerns/
George is like Annie... the media deal is always just a day away...
Then Deion Sanders no shows... granted for a surgery but why not wait till this coming Monday after media day?
https://theathletic.com/4711160/2023/07 ... media-day/
>> No Deion Sanders at Pac-12 Media Day proves to be another loss for a league needing wins <<
Does Deion know something we don't? ie Colorado jumping to Big12? Why bother showing up if that's happening??

We should never post anything that has a paywall, which the Athletic has.4th&long wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2023 1:30 pm https://www.cbssports.com/college-footb ... -concerns/

Deion also had a health scare recently. His absence isn't some conspiracy.4th&long wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2023 1:30 pm https://www.cbssports.com/college-footb ... -concerns/

Re: PAC-12 media day - status blow
Its odd in that he's been working, has a surgery on media day. He couldn't have it a few days later? Its not some conspiracy to move semi-elective surgery a few days, unless of course you don't care to be there. Unless its more serious than it sounds and then why coach at all. The Athletic called it correctly - big loss for Pac-12 on media day.GDAWG wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2023 2:33 pmDeion also had a health scare recently. I just googled it and had no issue reading it. But I do tend to get around alot of these paywalls, here i did not experience one.GDAWG wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2023 1:46 pmWe should never post anything that has a paywall, which the Athletic has.4th&long wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2023 1:30 pm https://www.cbssports.com/college-footb ... -concerns/
