As a resident of Ohio this is exciting as we are always overlooked for teams in new leagues. I think the Pittsburgh Maulers will be Canton's team, and be either be the Canton Maulers or renthemed to the Canton Bulldogs. I think if the USFL is to go to home markets they'll use MLS stadiums as well.
New Jersey Generals in NY Red Bulls stadium
Philadelphia to Philadelphia Union stadium
Michigan Panthers continue to use Ford Field
Canton Tom Benson Stadium
Birmingham Progressive Field
Memphis Liberty Bowl
New Orleans to Yulman Stadium
Houston is the only wildcard, can they go to soccer stadium, or will the USFL move them to Canton leaving the Maulers in Pitt using an unknown stadium
I guess we will find out someday.
A few things:
- The only legit stadium option in Pittsburgh is Acrisure Stadium. They are not going to the 5,000 seat soccer stadium that the Pittsburgh Riverhounds play in.
- I'm sure that the NFL has the trademarks to "Canton Bulldogs"

NFL Properties took up every 'old name' the NFL used and every so often will put out shirts/momentos, etc that have those names/logos on them so that they can keep holding them. Canton Bulldogs/Cleveland Bulldogs, etc are long term being held by NFL.
Plus, you really don't want to piss off the locals as Canton's now only public High School, Canton McKinley, are still the Bulldogs. You are not using that name in that town. At all.
Canton Blitz or Canton Gold if they reuse a USFL name.

Canton Bulldogs was a team in the 60s version of the UFL, somehow Joe McJack@$$ didn't try to steal it since he claims both the 60s and 2009-12 versions

Moving the Blitz to Canton is better than keeping them in Chicago. Despite the size of the market for TV (3rd overall) there has been no proof that alternative football can succeed in the Windy City. In fact, it has failed big time.

Biggest problem with Chicago is location. Other than the Bears (and now the Fire trying it again now that MLS is 'bigger'), no one wants to deal with going to Soldier Field. But there's really no good suburban areas with stadiums. The Fire's old stadium in Bridgeview is an option (NWSL plays there), but that area had a problem of no one wanting to go there, either as it was a pretty poor area of the city which is why back then in MLS 2.0 era they could get land and get a stadium built.
I think that the USFL needs to try new cities from the 1980's league with Canton as the new Midwest City. Not sure about Indianapolis or Columbus or the Twin Cities. With Canton having a team, I don't think the USFL needs to put teams in Cleveland (although they could rebrand the Canton team as Cleveland) or Cincinnati. Chicago is not going to work.
