Beathard is terrible, so he will be an upgrade. There are so many terrible backups in the NFL this season: Beathard, Tim Boyle, Nathan Peterman, Nick Foles, David Blough, John Wolford, Bryce Perkins, Malik Willis, Nick Mullens, Marcus Mariota, Trevor Siemian, PJ Walker (who hasn't been great in the NFL), Nate Sudfeld and also a lot of aging backups as well: Chase Daniel, Colt McCoy, Foles, Case Keenum, Matt Barkeley, Blaine Gabbert and Brian Hoyer.

The best backup QBs in the NFL are: Colt McCoy, Cooper Rush, Teddy Bridgewater, Bailey Zappe, Jordan Love, Jacoby Brissett, Tyler Huntley, Gardner Minshew, Josh Johnson, Tyrod Taylor, Skylar Thompson and of course, Brock Purdy.

I'm pretty sure BC fans are hoping Rourke comes back sooner than later. Truth is, Rourke's dream is to play in the NFL and he won't be back in the CFL until the NFL sends him back, and that means Rourke will take any spots he is given until he is given no more.

Well, that's interesting, but Jacksonville wants a stable QB room and with many teams not even knowing who their #1 and #2 are, this move helps stabilize things. He's average, but there are a lot worse backups than him.
